Security Guard Mobile Homes - Anybody Home?

I know that some sites employee security guards who stay on site in little mobile homes, or at least that's what I've always thought given the large number of mobile homes at the sites I go to. And I know the difference between a standard "construction company" mobile home and a place where somebody supposedly sleeps and guards because of the little logo on the side of the trailer - sometimes they write SECURITY in large red letters on the side of it.

In regards to security guard mobile homes, it is my experience that most of the time, nobody is manning their post. It used to be a good deterrent for me. I would see the mobile home and think, "fuck, somebody lives on the site." And I'd stay away most of the time, when I was younger.

Then I started being sneaky around these mobile homes. Didn't make a lot of noise and tip toed by them. I figured at any moment some guard would come out in his sweat stained tank top yelling at me.

After a while, I realized that most of these mobile homes were baking in the heat and no sound came from within, no air conditioner running. Were they really guard headquarters? I started making noise outside of the mobile homes and even knocked on the door a few times. Nobody ever came out.

The closest I ever came to people was a picnic table outside the mobile home with a deck of cards and an old squeeze container of mustard.

I don't know if I've just been lucky, catching the site when the site caretaker is out bowling or what? All I know is that I've seen a mobile home at many sites, some with security logos, some without and one thing I've realized is that nobody is ever home.

People are weird.

I've also seen these plenty of times - with air conditioning running and lights on and everything - and never run into any problems

Hee hee! Over the past few years the city has plopped about 400 low-income housing units right behind where I live, and the security guard rented the trailer out to an enterprising young lady of the night to work in. I kid you not. I fear not guard trailers. (Unless they are infested with things that buzz and sting.)

I’m quite positive that you’ve slept with someone uglier than me, and I’m sure I’ve slept with someone hotter than you. So let’s just call it a draw.

The Commissionaires Trailer just outside the Canada Blue Tannery in Cobourg.

A more appropriate word for them would be trailer.

When I was a security guard, I was supposed to stay in one of those for my shift, making one patrol every hour at slightly randomised times. I got the impression it was intended more as an office for the daytime construction crews, and it just happened to be the best place to stick a security guard.
