Be Respectful, Clean up after yourself

Found a new location yesterday. It's an abandoned factory out on the Gila River Indian Reservation and let me tell ya this place is tagged to shit. Every inch of the walls that are still standing are painted. Most of walls where I assume the office was are knocked down and the place is pretty much wrecked. It was kind of a nerve racking trip for me. I got there at about 7 in the morning as to assure I would not be bothered and still have some good natural light. I get kind of paranoid when I go to a new location for the first time. I ran across two set's of africanized (killer) bees hives(they we're swarming like africanized bees anyways). And then once I finally got the feel of the place and was settling in to take some pictures, three vato's showed up looking pretty mean. I came around a corner and was face to face with a red suburban with three dudes in it. I nodded as to give the universal "what's up" gesture and all I got in return we're cold stares. Now this is when I started to get worried. I was in the middle of nowhere, no gun, no knife, about 400 dollars worth of camera equipment and 250 dollars in cash. So what did I do? Yea that's right, I ran like a little bitch. I'll be back next weekend. My .45 will make me feel better about things.

Here are the pics I did get. I searched the net for about 3 hours trying to find more information about this place to no avail. Like I said before, It's been tagged to shit and completely gutted(scrappers). I would say it's been abandoned for a good 15+ years.

I'm just starting to get serious with the pics. If you've got constructive criticism, I'm all ears.

I like 2,3, and 6. You can't help but smile at the irony of the graffiti in #2.

Excellent shots! It's not surprising that even the most remote places are bring gutted for copper wire. With the prices of copper these days, the scavengers are getting crazy desperate. As an example, there is a big civic building in Mesa that had some slabs in front of it that were very popular with skaters; the ground had real copper trim on the edges, you know as part of Arizona's heritage of copper mining. Somehow the looters removed the copper that was set into the concrete sidewalk! Probably did it during the middle of the night and most likely sold it for scrap. What a shame!
