Sackville Multi-Service Center

The Multi-Service Center started out as a liquor store in Sackville (the only one), but I think it became a community-type center before it became a medical triage center that normally facilitated things like stitching folks up, x-ray, blood collection, etc.

After the minimal security prison was torn down the Multi-Service Center was going to be torn down and put where the prison used to be. The new Multi-Service Center was built, but they hadn’t torn down the old one, and it became apparent that they were renovating it.

It was during this time that my father and I drove past it a few times and decided to try getting in when the workers had gone home. We pulled up in our truck and walked around the back of the building, peering in through the cuts in the orange plastic that covered the openings. We finally decided to talk a walk inside and looked around at some of the equipment that was lying around chained to the support posts to keep it from being stolen. We wanted to look at the other side of the building that hadn’t been gutted and walked around the front, but as we walked around the corner we could see a light on in a second floor office window facing us. The guard was sitting at a desk drinking coffee and reading a paper and didn’t see us so we walked around to that side of the building; we found his car and the locked door to the building.

So after taking a few photos and watching a rent-a-cop enjoy his daily dose of caffeine and sporting news we went back to the truck and drove home.

I took these photos a while ago with my point and shoot Olympus at dusk, and I had to crop and adjust the brightness and saturation to upload them so sorry for the shit quality. We were also worried about the guard and our proximity to a road so we couldn't use the MagLite for lighting, and the lighting was bad for shooting without it.

Pictures four and five are gas-operated lift trucks. We've had them in at work to do some renovations. Nice pics though.

Right, I forgot that the tubes were connected to a machine next to the lift.

It's funny, I'm out there just about every weekend, but I always somehow forget to check that place out for myself.

I don't know how accessable it is now; I think they have those big holes covered up, but there's a house nearby (just up the street overlooking the highway) that looks promising.

They are still working on it, although I don't know what they're putting in.

You love your dad. That's awesome. I have a six-year old boy, currently sick on the couch. I love him.

He doesn't really mind me exploring if I have my cellphone and I'm careful, in this situation he helped me with the flashlight.

I mean the house, not the MS building.

Yeah, most of the windows are covered with plywood. The front and one side are in view of the house down the street, but the back is only visible from the highway.

I think the place is a "10 Mile House".

No, it's one in the street across from it. If you were to go towards the Fultz house past Jessie's Pizza and straight through the lights the house is on that road.
