AZ Vacation in a canyon

A few months ago I took a vacation to the Queen Creek area where some friends of mine are living. We spent a week camping in a canyon, tooling about in the jeep and I came across a couple of interesting things. Nothing spectacular, or arty (I was just trying to snap some shots) but I figured I'd give you folks a look.

First we happened along a decaying cabin. The termites had done a decent job at it, from the looks.

Coming in through the back, I had to tread carefully. Floor was none too safe. And ugh what a mess. I love it.

I think the only thing intact in the cabin at all was the sink, which looked remarkably better than some of the toiletries I've seen in derelicts.

This water tank had pipes going to nowhere...

...almost like a stairway to heaven.

After I'd gotten my fill of the not-too-interesting spot, we packed it in. Down the trail a piece (and after my friend hit a corner wrong and nearly drove her quad off a cliff (she literally tilted and if she hadn't leaned as hard as she could, she'd be dead) we came across an old farm. There was some slightly more interesting stuff here, but not much.

Tessa, out on her first UE trip, grabbed onto the rebar on this trough and smiled for a portrait I couldn't resist.

This holding tank was full of the most disgusting fetid water I've ever seen.

There was a cool windmill that Rich couldn't resist climbing. I did it too, but no one snapped a pic of me. I like the lens flare here.

What a beautiful day, I'm not used to such clear warm Januaries back home.

From there we continued on to some great old train tressels and coke ovens from the silver mining days but that film was lost with my checked baggage. (I know, I know. Pics or it didn't happen, yadda yadda. Sorry, you'll have to take my word for it or wait til I go back to AZ. But so concluded a beautiful day.

Awesome. I love to climb the old windmills that are all over out here.
