We seriously need to buckle down and get our stuff together with this. Since I dont have access to the DB we need to help each other out with locations, areas, info, ect... , because it makes me sad we dont help each other out as much as we could, and it also makes me sad when only me and tribeachpunk show up to a meeting, we need to get organized, so this thread is for pictures/ stories/ and other random things around this lovely city, and its outskirts.

Thanks, Plague.

Once spring/summer rolls around, this group gets a little more active.

I wasn't in town at all last summer and missed all the summer meetings, was very inactive. Too much shift work, too far from much of anything. I moved back into civilization in December so I've been uncharacteristically active in the winter.

in all honesty, due to the weather I've been inactive in exploring...but once it warms up again....

I am though up to changing the meetup date and time. I think an evening would work best.

and a different location possibly, the cops always seem to be at the corner or around the current meeting place during the meet

but still, we need to get to know each other, because its hard enough to find people to explore with, and with the current UE's in halifax/ surrounding areas, it would be nice to explore with one another, and find new places.

Unless you drive, the weather is a huge obstacle.

I wouldn't mind meeting in the evening. I'm pretty flexible.

I'm fine with the location we're at now. I couldn't care less if the police are parked around the corner. #1 We're not doing anything illegal by meeting at 2nd Cup, #2 our meetings are NOT top secret, so if the police know about them (which is laughable) they're welcome to come sit with us if they want. Part of meeting on a monthly basis in a public spot like a coffee shop is to legitimize this hobby of ours. #3 I don't, nor should anyone else be bringing anything illegal to our meetings.

I just don't know why anyone would worry about the police being outside. They've got bigger fish to fry. We're not even doing anything wrong. :/

I prefer to do my exploring with my own people, no offense to anyone here. I'm not familiar enough with the character of anyone I meet at 2nd Cup or here online to want to explore with them. I mean, if myself and someone from here travel to an abandonment together and that person starts breaking windows or stealing, wtf am I supposed to do then?

We'll all, or as many as possible, get together at a place like PPP this spring/summer. A public place filled with ruins would be perfect for a 100% legal outing to familiarize ourselves with one another.

You fucking better had get your shit together... It's only a few weeks till my visit!

Chris...

We all had ostriches. My dad had an ostrich farm! I remember one day someone came in and said the high altitude bombing of Kosovo had been a limited success, so we all went out and celebrated… by killing an ostrich and boiling it in kiwi fruit.

break their teeth..

I think a better group outing would be to McNabb's. Go in the morning, spend the day, have a lunch.. head back by supper.

Funny, I'm supposed to be going over there next month for an over-nighter with some buddies. Hopefully it's warmer by then. Especially since it'll be my first time there.

Hope you called DNR to reserve your camp site like you're supposed to!
I'm trying to organize a weekend at McNab's with some friends as well, sometime over summer.

Anyway, some sort of large gathering? I might just sneak out from under the floor boards and actually show my face for once!

Yes, but some of them aren't. The ones that are sealed leave lots to explore. The grounds, the walls and the cracks in them that reveal glimpse of rooms sealed for 3/4 of a century. There are four major ruins in the park, and tons of other miscellaneous bits of heritage scattered throughout.

I explore for the history, not for the thrill of trespassing. Just because the door is bricked doesn't make the abandonment any less appealing in my books.

I'm planing on doing some scouting in outlying areas once the snow is gone, I already have a few minor locations in mind for exploration soon.

*sigh* That would be GREAT!

I grew up in NS, and I'm trying to get back there this summer for a couple of weeks. McNabb's is SO on my list of to-do's.
