That rota-kill-a-cow machine doesn't look very efficient. It takes the cow a good few minutes to bleed out, all the while it's thrashing around and bruising the product!

I think I like the more efficient 'stun then behead' method employed in the UK.

Then why do they use this strange method you ask?

For religious reasons - they are making HALAL beef here. The methods of HALAL dictate that the meat must be made by cutting all three main arteries in the animals throat at once - no stunning, no pain relief, must be alive.

So if anything, you should blame religion if you find this an inhumane process.

Funny that Peta (a group of confirmed cock-nozzles) fail to mention that one wee detail in their propaganda. They also claim that by 'going veg' you can end this; eh, except as far as religious purposes go, it won't change it one iota.

//on topic: the pics are excellent!

Chris...

We all had ostriches. My dad had an ostrich farm! I remember one day someone came in and said the high altitude bombing of Kosovo had been a limited success, so we all went out and celebrated… by killing an ostrich and boiling it in kiwi fruit.

I think the last one is definitely my favorite of the bunch....I love the perspective and contrast....it took me a second to figure out exactly what it was.
#1 is just an interesting picture...makes you wonder what it is
