I shot this place a few months back with a few friends from flickr, it was my first time light painting with gels. I shot these with a Canon 30D and the Sigma 10-20mm.

my first attempt light painting, we used colored binder dividers to color the flash and flashlights.

this is shot through a hole drilled in a piece of plywood covering what used to be a window.

long exposure using an uncapped maglite to draw the rectangles. we tried this shot about 10 times and it never came out perfect, this is the best we got before moving onto something else.

Looks like a successful experiment to me. I especially like the washer and dryer. Maybe a red would've looked better in the fourth picture, but it still looks cool.

i think those are really nice shots. i like #2 & #2 quite a bit.

typically people on UER type a little history about the site, so we have an idea of the place, and leave off the name of the location so that we don't tip off scrappers and graffiti artists...just a suggestion.

Ah, I see. This building was used as a resort in the 1920s. In the 1930s, the depression forced its closure. from 1933-1977 it was a K-12 military academy, however Vietnam was eventually what caused the schools closure. Right now it's owned by a british company that is going to turn it into a resort again.

Really crisp, clear night shots. I like the creative use of light painting, like the lights in the washer and dryer. The only thing to really be nit picky about it is that in number 1 the top of the building is cut off, but it's still a great shot. I don't know if anyone on here ever played Medal Of Honor: Allied Assault, but number 1 looks just like the Algiers level.
