| | | Halifax Meet < on 1/30/2008 6:40 PM >
| | | I'm just trying to draw a little more attention to the monthly meet in Halifax. We've been meeting monthly on the first Sunday of the month at the Second Cup coffee shop on Spring Garden Road in downtown Halifax. Map Who? Anyone who is interested in Urban Exploration. What? A meeting of local explorers. When? 2pm on the first Sunday of the month. Where? Second Cup Café at 5425 Spring Garden Rd., in Halifax.
Why? Information/photo sharing, story telling, adventure planning & coffee drinking. The meetings are always a good time. Share information, stories or photos, or just listen and learn. The coffee is pretty good too! Please RSVP! To RSVP, click on the 'Events' link on the left-hand side of UER.ca or click here. [last edit 1/30/2008 6:45 PM by tribeachpunk - edited 1 times]

| | | BB brings up a good point (second point). How do we know where you'll be sitting? And the thing I'd like to know is: where would I park? I don't know Halifax too well, and I don't know what parking arrangements would be like.

I usually sit wherever there happens to be room when I go in. If I don't recognize any faces, I look for the "UER" tent on the table.

Look for the UER tent on the table. By tent I mean a piece of paper folded in half that says UER on it. I usually have a binder with me... Someone usually has a camera. For some reason people seem to notice us. Park on Queen or Doyle. We parked on Doyle for this month's meet. The meets are on Sunday so the meters are free.

| | | Great, but I know where I'm gonna park if I end up going. On the corner of Morris and Queen, there's a parking lot, it's free, and usually no one parks there.

| | | Anytime we meet up when I was living in Moncton, we'd have a 3d Maglite on the table..
You shake my hand, say “pleased to meet you.” Look me in the eye, I don’t believe you. TUI, as long as I’m still alive. I live despite you. Realize I’m not one of your kind, I’m nothing like you. |

That's funny, I've parked there on three different occasions, and nobody's asked any questions. Nor have they ticketed me.

| | | Yesterday we were all strangers so we covered the basics. Introductions and resumes, more or less. It was as informal as a meeting can get. We covered who were were, what we did for a living and where our exploring has taken us. I bring my log book with me normally so I flipped through my locations.. Got a little information on some places I was unaware of.

| | | Just a heads up, the next meet is scheduled for Sun, Mar 2nd, 2008 at 2:00 PM. It'll be at the same place as in the original post. Last month, I was joined by Plague and another explorer whose s/n I can't recall at this month's meeting. I'd consider it successful. I shared my log book and we all shared stories. So, it'd be great if everyone could RSVP for this month... Even if you RSVP 'no' every month, at least we know you're part of the community..
