Old abandoned mine - Ladysmith B.C.

I don't have any photos available of this mine, but I took a video of it and posted it on Youtube. Here is the link.

This old mine is a short drive away from the Ladysmith town site on Vancouver Island. Small amounts of gold and a moderate amount of silver is still present.

I would have stayed longer but I heard a growling noise near by so I called it a day.

"Small amounts of gold and a moderate amount of silver is still present."

Go for the gold, or silver, dang. Surprised those floor boards are in such good shape. Speaking of likely rotted floors, always good to step on two planks. Insurance if one breaks. I knew you knew that.

And the growling? Go fo da egg a muffin next time, no hungries. Seriously, prolly a bear, good to get oughta there.

Annie.

So that's one way you get your count so high, vitamin supplements..., no wait that came out wrong, I mean, single word or single sentence posts

Unless hungry or sick, cougars mostly are very stealthy, quiet, and shy of people. I encountered a very large one once. Luckily I just saw a glimpse as it disappeared into the forest. Vancouver Island is known to have a high cougar population, but they are usually smaller. Not this one.

Bears are like the total party crashers of the animal world. Loud, messy, (John Belushi was born under the bear sign) Lovable party animals, except they never get tired until winter. And it's no fun to lose all your food/booze/drugs/shelter to these large beasts, who sling scat without warning, just like William Shatner for example.

About the gold: Could be worth trying to do some research, maybe get a claim license, and cautiously have a second look at this site. Be very careful in mines though. I've been told they are safer if they are not shored up with wood. If it wasn't needed, the rock was expected to be self supporting. Check with the mine guys, and good luck.
