| | | | How big is this bridge? The third picture makes it look huge like it was used for railroad, but the first picture makes it look like it was just a foot bridge.

| | | | It was a one lane bridge. People going one way had to wait if a car was already on it going the opposite direction. It was closed to car use in 1996 for safety concerns. They began to be afraid part of it would either fall through or there would be too many cars on it causing collapse, as it had gotten extremely rickety. People still walk across it to the other side, but the road on the other side is largely abandoned because there is obviously nowhere to go. By the way, what do you think of the pics?

Now that I know it was a one lane traffic bridge, reminds me of one near where I live

| | | | The bridge kinda looked like the old N&W one across the James River near downtown Lynchburg. I remember they opened it up when I was a kid as they were extending the bike trail that runs through a good part of the city. That bridge connected to an island in the middle of the James...
