| | | Only found one building left, and I was expecting to find this one, but there are plenty of woods and roads left to explore later. Just the digital images so far. Full digital set here: http://s45.photobu...ng4/camp%20butner/ 1

| | | Any idea of what this building was used for? I know it was a part of the old military training base used in WWII, and untouched for 40+ years. Very large ovens filled with ashes downstairs, an upstairs with holes going down to the ovens, and a tall brick smoke stack. btw, the climb to the top of the smoke stack was quite interesting. | | | Though it looks roughly similar to the one on the Presidio of San Francisco, it might be too big to have been the post incinerator bldg. Could it have been the post bakery? Hmm, probably no need for a chimney that high, so I'm back to thinking the post incinerator, used to general refuse, with priority being for the disposal of classified documents. http://www.saw.usa...mpbutner/index.htm
