| | | Introducing myself with some pictues < on 9/1/2007 1:04 AM >
| | | Hey I am new to the forum and would like to introduce myself. I am fairly new to UE and already totally addicted to it. Seeing pictures of an abandoned hospital in San Francisco that someone posted on flickr got me started. I was bummed to find out that the place is pretty heavily guarded. But, the same guy also had some cool pictures of an abandoned warehouse which looked a lot easier for a first exploration. I did some research online and with help from GoogleEarth and LiveSearch I was able to pinpoint the location. So the following weekend a friend and I grabbed our cameras and we were on our way. We actually never made it to that place; by pure luck we stumbled upon an other even cooler place on our way there. We found a way in and the beauty of decay was all around us. I think I am most interested in the art aspect of UE. I just recently got really into photography and I think for me UE and photography make the perfect combination. I love the shapes and colors of peeling paint, rusty metal, crumbling walls and decay overall. I try to capture the mood of the location with my images, so that the viewer can feel the surroundings... I try to be as respectful to a place as possible so that other explorers can enjoy the same beauty. Since that first exploration I was fortunate enough meeting some more experienced explorers from the Bay Area and was able to go on some trips with them. They really opened my eyes and I was able to learn a lot from them. Recently I moved to LA and I am trying to continue exploring. However, since I’m still pretty new to UE I would feel more comfortable exploring with someone else or in a small group (safety reasons I guess... ) Anybody out there interested introducing me to the LA and surroundings abandonment’s? Anyway, here are some of my photos. Please let me know what you think. Thanks a lot and I am looking forward to meeting some cool people and exploring some exciting new locations. Seemoo

I couldn't agree more! I constantly explain to my friends and co-workers who don't understand UE that I am trying to capture the feeling of the buildings and places I go into. It's almost as if you can hear the history of the place if you stand still and just listen...
I try to be as respectful to a place as possible so that other explorers can enjoy the same beauty. |
A popular phrase around here is 'Take only pictures... leave only footprints.' It's great to see a new explorer who really understands what UE is really about. Your pictures are simply AMAZING! Welcome to UER.

I become capability. I become the horror. What we know we can become only in our heart of darkness. It's my gift. It's my curse. |

| | | Thanks a lot. I'm glad you like my stuff. Happiedaze: Thanks a lot. "Take only pictures... leave only footprints." I heard that before and I like that a lot. istakebroad: Thanks man. The pictures are not just from one place. It's kinda my most favorites collection from about 5 places. pezking4, Poisonne: Thanks. "Recently" as in 1 year recently. Crazy how time flies... I went to art school and used to be a web-designer so I was pretty familiar with composition, design and photoshop before i picked up a camera. Anyway, I am hear to learn, so any constructive criticism is very much appreciated. :: inuk: Thanks. Yea, I heard that before and I'm trying to cut back... You know, it's like when you first start with photoshop and you add lens flare to everything... I kinda feel I am in that stage with HDR... Crank it to the max. Which might not be the best choice, but I think it's a stage I have to go through... Thanks again. Anybody in the LA area up for a trip? Seemoo

| | | VERY NICE! The colors in #2 rock, and I like that main hall shot. Did you take #11 in that position on purpose to catch the face drawn on the wall reflected in the mirror, or was that unintentional. Either way, I love it!
