Riverview in trouble...another woodlands in the making

I did a few posts on other forums...and some ranting as well.....I'll spare you that here, read the article. You know as well as I what a bunch of shit this is, and it is just a ploy to get the public to agree with a large development under the guise of "housing the homeless". Hosing the homeless, and the public, is more in line with what they have in mind. Enjoy.

I used to be with it, but then they changed what it was. Now what I'm with isn't it, and what's it seems weird and scary to me, and it'll happen to you, too!

"Some of the buildings frankly have rats in them." Ha ha haaa ahhh ha ha lol!! And tehspestos! Hurry up, rip everything down, and put up POS chipboard stapled together chemical leaching allergic reaction inducing condos, so you can suck more property tax out of the community. Maximize that density and profits, you corporate pigs!

Good watchdog post Hypno. Hopefully they won't destroy the heritage aspects totally here. It could be an awesome project, with lots of green space, if they just hire a proper architect, and make housing homeless people, and heritage preservation the priority.

In the meantime, they could do a modest reno and get suffering street people in there fast. Asbestos has become a scapegoat and a joke. It's used as a reason to justify tearing down buildings. Unless there are open walls or ceilings, and that stuff is falling into your breakfast cereal, it's not harming anyone.

Just like lead paint. Cover it up with latex, and get back to Dick and Jane and Jeff. Or whatever they are teaching kids these days. Pardon my rant.

B.C. targets homeless with Riverview Project
Miro Cernetig, Vancouver Sun
Published: Friday, July 27, 2007

VICTORIA -- The site of B.C.'s century-old psychiatric hospital
may soon be transformed into a massive
real estate development that will mix the affluent,
the poor, the mentally ill and the disabled,
the minister responsible for housing said Thursday.

Q: how will you be able to tell the affluent and the the mentally ill apart?

The affluent will be on more pharmaceuticals I suspect. That and the metally ill will be more in tune with what is really going on!!

Just reading the local paper, and now Skytrain is being mentioned in the same breath as Riverview development. Rapid Transit has been a sore point with Tri-City politicians in recent years, with the Tri-Cities having been "passed over" with the Richmond line being built instead. Recently there was discussion to build a UBC line instead of the line in the Tri-Cities.

The article mentioned a re-alignment of the Tri-Cities (Evergreen) line to go along the Lougheed instead of burrowing thru the Port Moody hill. The Lougheed route would, of course, serve the new development.

There appears to be major resistance on the part of Coquitlam council to the whole Riverview idea (thank God). I haven't heard anything from the local indian band, who have an interest, I'd imagine.

Watch for the Provincial Government to dangle a Skytrain line to the local Tri-City councils if opposition grows to their "great idea for Riverview".

Rest in peace, my pal Mowgli - the best dog there ever was.

What I heard in from the Fraser Health Authority is that Riverview will be re opened in small community like group homes to get people off East Hastings before the 2010 Olympics. They are building some stupid soccer stadium in the middle of the East Side, as well as condos, and urban f***heads want to live DOWNTOWN, because it's the new SCENE for brain dead hipsters to move in thier- no class or style crappy laminate floors and glass cages. They are forgetting they need some grass or trees for thier little crappy pussy dogs that are only good for pissing off the balcony on top of thier underground neighbours carbon copy balcony. All because poor is the new cool...

Read the Carnagie News Letter for more info...
