| | | Posted by zenjaphy You know up until the last response, this was the most civil HDR thread I'd ever seen around here.

I have had some big battles about hdr on this site. And I have lost every one of them! So as the saying goes "if you can't beat them, shoot them!" But since I don't have the time to kill every one, I will chose this path in life "if you can't bet them, join them" And that my friends...is my new path in life. No hard feelings to all. | | | I am with you...HDR has its place. People were beating me up for using it on cars...but its not any different then what you "should" be doing when shooting film...meaning shoot for the shadows and develop for the highlights. All HDR is doing is simplifying what i used to do in a darkroom with filters and burning/dodging tools.

| | | I personally hate photomatix, it makes everything soft, powdery and maroon tinged. It works well for brick and crusty textures as it brings them out but makes everything else look wack. Here are two examples: Photomatix:
Just HDR:
People are gonna like/dislike these for different reasons, but personally photomatix is being overused by people for the only reason that its hip and new. I like the hdr one better and the setting sun is more visible. *apologies for large file size. [last edit 7/12/2007 5:57 PM by Air - edited 1 times]

| | | I have to agree with what most of the people have said, you didn;t really need hdr for this shot. To my knowledge, the best use for an hdr is like at a sunset, because you can't really get both the ground and the sky in the same shutter speed (Or you could adjust the focal length)
