not sure what the lighting is in this picture, if its a flash of if there's a window behind you. either way i think it is what is killing these shots. the lighting is uneven, it looks like a wide opened window with you standing in front of it casting a shadow on portions of the photo.

there must be a diffuser or maybe a hand over it then cause a direct flash at that distance i would think would make the photo a little more blown out?
