Pictures from recent adventures

Hi all, these are just some pictures I've taken in the past month or two of a closed amusement park, in Wichita, KS. They reopened in 2006, and then closed again and taken over by the original owners due to the leasers not paying their rent. The pictures aren't all that great, because my camera is a video camera, and isn't that good at taking stills. I didn't go in too far, because they have the place under a surveillance system.

"Joyland Amusement park, finest in the southwest!" Not any more... sadly..

This door led into a back hallway of their funhouse/darkride, called the Whacky Shack. It was pitch black in there, and it smelled like pee.

Some classic childrens rides..

Hideous color scheme..

Roller coaster

There were a few people there that day, so I didn't go into the parking lot.

rides and stuff, all going into storage.

I hope you all enjoyed these pictures, thanks for looking.

I wonder if anybody is going to jump down your throat for posting a pic of the notice with the address of the place clearly visible in it? I'd be inclined to say that would be a no-no...

I don't see anything wrong with it, you could easily just type in the name of the place in Google and get an address.

It's an amusement park..........I doubt that the goal when it was open was to hide the address so no one can find it.

But I see your point also skyzefawlun.

Don't advertise the place. If someone is interested they can PM you and you can share your wealth of knowledge with them if you like or just make them work for it by doing their own research. Keeps all the riff raffs from taking their paint cans out for a tag session.

Yes they read these sites also.

Great Photos!

If you spend any time here, you'll soon find that it's generally frowned upon to post real names of locations, and especially real addresses. Like Big Poppa said, don't advertise. It happens all the time, and can sometimes lead to a rather painful brow beating.

Myself, I don't have a problem with it either. I believe information should be free and public, but I can see how some would prefer a certain level of discretion when talking about locations in a public forum...

Ok, I removed the picture with the address. I wish there wasn't a surveillance system, I could have UE'd the hell out of the place!

^Yeah, it would have been really fun to climb on.

Three words for ya...........Night Time Surveillance.

Are you saying it in a way meaning go in at night? If you are, the area is a little too sketchy to be in at night, let alone ride my bike there at night.

Was that in a good or bad way? :-p

Little bit from column A, little bit from column B...

It was the use of UE as a verb, especially in conjunction with the phrase "the hell out of..." that made me chuckle. It's endearing.

Bad part of town? Too many Security Guards? Not Familiar with the layout?

Just trying to figure out how it's sketchy.

As for riding the bike..........got me on that one.

Then let THEM worry about it.

modified to add:

He clearly said that he did NOT go in, because there were some people there. Nothing wrong with that. The place has a fence... if people want in, they'll get in. (Even if he DIDN'T show the address...)

By the way, awesome location. When you UE it, make sure to take lots of pictures of the inside of those buildings. I'm curious to see whats inside. =)

The only accessible building is the green one in the picture, and some other one with no doors. The building in the first picture is the bumper cars building. The other buildings are 2 concession stands, a game building, storage, and park offices. The only buildings locked up real tight are the park offices and concession stands. The storage buildings will have the bumper cars in them, carousel horses, etc..
Here are some older pics I took from 2005, just to give you an idea of all the exploration there is to do. ^_^
