eh dudes, I just got into the UE scene, and was wondering how many of you guys were from Saskatoon (I did a search but came up with old results, thought I might as well start a fresh thread)

hope to hear from you!

Welcome Cypre

The UE scene in Saskatchewan is rather small. I am in Regina, but travel throughout the province frequently. My theory is that exploring in Regina and Saskatoon is not very rewarding, both cities are quick to protect or remove abandonments. The majority of my exploring has ocurred in rural areas or the smaller cities. Large scale abandonments are few and far between here, but there are still a few remaining. The best tips I can give you for exploring in Saskatchewan are:

1. Study maps for hints of were locations may exist
2. Get off the beaten path - scour the back roads
3. Follow mothballed / abandoned rail lines
4. Be prepared to occasionally drive for hours just to find out nothing is left

Saskatoon used to have quite a few abandonments but quickly got rid of them beginning in 2004. The city has quite a few storm drains and there is always the steam tunnel system at the U of S.

Cor makes some good points about rural exploring and I have nothing more that I can really add but that the prairies have the most beautiful sunsets and scenery I have seen in my life.

Thanks guys!

I have already been out once rurally, and found an old granary but that is the extent of my rural explorations. Any tips on where to go in the Saskatoon area?

I would be very interested to go south and check out a lot of those older rural towns, I think it'd be great. Just gotta wait t'ill this summer until I can get out and make a day trip (or two) of it.

By the way, how old are you guys?

I'll give you a couple tips to avoid having an unpleasant experience on UER. Several users on this site will jump down your throat for asking for locations. I am not one of those users, but I also do not hand out free information on locations that I have spent many hours researching and driving to.

My best advice if you want to get into UE. Get outside and wander around Saskatoon, keeping your eyes open. Keep searching, look at old city maps, talk to elderly people in your neighborhood. Look into the city archives. Keep looking and you will find something. When you do find something post a few photos for us, but do not give away the real name of the location, where it is, or how to get in. Doing this will slowly build your credibility on this site and proves to use that you aren't just someone looking for a place to have a rave or a place to trash.

I'm not trying to be an ass or anything like that, just trying to save you the grief that so many run into here. Oh yeah, I'm 27.

Regards

I am 21.

If you are interested in drains just drive or cycle along the N. Sask. River as you are bound to find outlets.

As for ghost towns, there is an really nice one about an hour and a half south, south west of Saskatoon.
