I'm new to this site, but not new to urban exploration. Has anyone been inside the abandoned sugar factory just east of old town Glendale? Any suggestions to get in? Anyone interested?

A few months ago I was eyeing this building. Its in a really bad part of town so i didnt stay for too long. It looked really ominous when I drove by it, and unfortunately I forgot about it until I read this post!

I've done some up close recon, and it could be difficult to get in. A crowbar and bolt cutters are needed to get in from the ground floor, but it might be easier to get in from one of the lower roofs around the main building. I think there is (or was) a storage lot right next to it for repo-ed cars, and the senor who was there didn't take kindly to me poking around there :-x

I've wanted to go in there for forever though. I'm gonna try and do some assessment later this week, and come up with a plan.

I drove by kind of late the other night, and parked my car across the street, behind a restaurant or something there, and as I was getting out, a fully uniformed cop in an unmarked car pulled up behind me and got out and asked me a few questions. I just gave him some basic answers and he drove off, but that makes me think that it's probably not a good idea to be poking around there, if you are one to avoid the police.

I don't think it would be that interesting, considering, to my understanding the building was never used, so there shouldn't be anything really cool in there except for a whole ton of pigeon crap. But that's not really that cool.

Ok i went in. it was a spur of the moment thing. it has three main levels and two extra stories in the middle. half the building is cut off and used for storage and the accessable half is full of crap to include our desert friends the african bee, the scorpion, and the black widow. its actually kinda cool, no access to fifth floor because i dont trust wood planks for stairs. very active life during day, very quiet at nite. I have more to include pictures, but im not a full member so i cant post. write me if you have questions.

Wow I'd stopped to check that place out before but it looked impossible to get inside with the barbed wire fences and the bottom two floors boarded up. I did find a complete history of the place though and it is quite interesting:

http://web.archive...ages/Sugarbeet.htm An effort by a local company to stabilize the building

Here's a pic from my visit. The place looks ominous even in the daytime.
