i'm new to UE, i actually haven't gone yet.

according to the DB, there aren't many sites in louisiana.

the abandoned hotel downtown is no longer abandoned, the Hilton has been built there.

the annex of city hall in new orleans doesn't seem like it'd be easy to get into.

i'm going to check out the dome sometime soon, but does anybody know of any other sites that aren't in the DB?

i'm willing to bet there are a bunch of abandoned industrial bldgs along the river, places that closed during the recession of the late 70's and early 80's. louisiana went through some hard times during the oil crisis.

There is a ton of stuff in your area. The old Jax brewery, several hospitals that were abandoned during Katrina, and not reopened yet, there is a Civil War fort just down river from you, and it is magical, tons of old oil facilities, i seem to recall lots of barges and boats just wasting away by the rivers edge and more. Get out there and hit it. Just start walking, and come back with some photos. Louisiana is great exploring country.

I have changed my personal exploring ethics code. From now on it will be: "Take only aimed shots, leave only hobo corpses." Copper scrappers, meth heads and homeless beware. The Jonsered cometh among you, bringing fear and dread.

In a couple of weeks, I'm moving to the New Orleans / Baton Rouge area for a few months. I'll PM you sometime and maybe we can 'splore some shit. There has to be some interesting buildings lying around since Katrina.

Many many good locations in the world are not in the DB. And also, you won't even be able to see the vast majority of the DB until you are a Full Member anyway.

Don't be discouraged be an apparent lack of locations. Go explore that Hilton; just because it's not an abandonment doesn't mean it's not good for exploring. Definitely look along the river -- if you don't find some nice industrial sites, you will find drains!

It seemed like a good idea at the time...
