Anyone done any exploring of these places?

http://pinetreelin...ndary/canada1.html

Each location is clickable with a buttwad of pictures. Also included are directions and maps...

These site are still used sometimes for co-ordinating forest fighting efforts, so good chances that during the summer these will all be occupied. Also at most sites there was an airforce base, military barracks, along with up to three or four long range radar stations for patrolling the northern borders from Ruskies ;)

I'd love to go up and see these in person as my old man has been babbling about them for years now, but I relocated to Burnaby now. Seldom have the chance to go up and play. SO these places are somewhat remote and little is known, but im sure will give many people here much fun times and many cool pictures.

BC Locations...

Baldy Hughes - 1 hr outside Prince George

Puntzi Lake (few hours outside Williams Lake)

along the way out this road is also a abandoned military test range I have visited before. Was used for doing areal low level bombing/ground strike practice, armour trials, and general military war games. Lots of cool stuff up there, many abandoned bunkers/buildings...etc etc. WARNING One person still lives on the grounds, beware is totally insane and does carry a gun. Dont worry though, he lives WAY in and is pretty mellow, but IS CRAZY...Also at this site is a wicked fire tower, requires a 4x4 to get up to the top, but you get a view of the entire pleateau....

Kamloops - Near Paul Lake 'bout 30 mins outside 'loops - Large base.

Comox - Forget it, active navy base, very much fortified...

Holberg - North Van Isl. Still standing

Tofino - Been here, boring as hell...not too much to see, all has been demolished...

Forewarned, these are still all owned by the DND (department of national defence) as with all Federal property, LARGE fines and possible man-prison (the pound you in the ass kind) time can follow. So i dont want any of this coming back to me. So go at your own risk...

Interesting stuff, and good links. Is the DND really big on, 'disciplining' people who wander on to their long abandoned sites?

On deactivated sites probably not, the ones near PG and Puntzi don't even have RCMP within 50 KM and if so only a small 1-2 man detachment. So even if alarmed still the response time would be an hour plus at best.

As long as you werent there to destroy it, i doubt that much punishment would be dished out.

We have done several sites. Lots of disapointment to be found. Most sites are long gone.

There is one in central BC that is less than impressive. Ther eis aonother on the alberta/Sask border that was somewhat complete but I have not had any updates on it's status in at least 3 years.

If you ever come to Calgary then email Satan@uea.ca and you'll be made welcome, taken to locations and given free accommodation. We'll help save you the $$$ you spend on the flight over here :)

I was wondering about them. The ones in ontario are all but gone. Edgar and Foymount have nothing left and Foymount is a hamlet of sorts on a hill with a Sierra Designs factory.

There is another one I haven't been to, but I suspect they are all gone or have found re-use in someway, which is actually a good thing.
