Here are some pictures of an auditorium. I realized that when I take pictures of auditoriums, or theatres, or what have yous, I never take a picture of the whole thing, just seats. I wonder what you lovely people think of that.

Anyhow, here are some seats, tell me where I can improve and if you would have preferred to see the whole room. Please be specific and talk to me like a dummy when discussing photoshop, cause I got no photoshop skills.

All of the pictures were taken with Velvia 50. Oh and they aren’t great scans. I need to get a better scanner and one that will scan med format, so if you have any scanner suggestions I would like those too.

damn that's velvia...nice pics...

Kabbalah is an undramatic tradition that requires great patience and stability. One of the reasons for this tempo is that everyone has to mature his potential gradually and thoroughly at his natural pace. In this way his life's work unfolds at the right moment in his own and the cosmos's time.

I like the first one, because of the random seat that's up!

Number four is really, really cool. The only real critique I have about these is that, at least for me, auditorium seats lose all their appeal at straight-on angles.

Number four is cool. I think it'd be interesting if someone was sitting in one of the seats maybe or just add something else to make one of them stand out. Number three with the chair up draws my attention towards that chair making it more interesting than just all the chairs being the same.

Thanks for the comments, though I do take a bit of issue with all of the chairs being the same. I believe every chair in that place has character. Every chair there was absolutely stunning.

Regarding people, I just don't really like people. Also, as I already said, I think the chairs have character on their own. However, I do understand that most people love people. I just happen to be one of those creepy people that are on the computer all the time and only socialize with cats. If only I could get cats in those chairs, now that would be a picture.

Seriously, your comments are really appreciated.

Agreed. 4 is my favourite and then 1. 2 wasn't taken dead on and it is really starting to bother me.

Thanks.

I agree with your critique. I recently realized that almost all my shots were taken like I was sneaking up from the left and I have been trying to shoot things dead on and I am really uncomfortable doing that. Maybe I will stop even trying.

I should say that I don't think that angle is a problem with everyone's auditorium shots, just mine.

Really enjoy #4: great lines, perspective, and lighting. The DoF choise is also fab - detail throughout the whole image is fabulous.

As others have commented, the straight-on shots are cool, but don't create the same type of mood to the photos.

Great work! Keep exploring.

What are you talking about? 2, 3 and 5 are about as uniform as you can get.

Nice set though. I'm liking the colours a lot. I would've liked to see more of the stuff that kids scratched into the back to help give the place a bit of a story, but that's just me.

As for scanners, have a look at the Epson 4990 or v700 which are probably as good as you can get for 120 without going for a high-end dedicated film scanner.

Thanks. I still think I need practice with the straight on thing. It goes against my sneaky nature.

I am no fool, I took rolls and rolls of the back of the seats. Oh wait! I am a fool because I lost most of them when I was leaving the first time I went there. I do have a few rolls, but they were shot on 120 and I still need to get a scanner.

Thanks for the scanner tip.
