Very true! If $10 is the degree to which you care about your respiratory system then hell use an old shirt and save yourself the $10. Not that either is going to protect you against the serious nasties but with a shirt you've $10 more to spend on bus tickets to explore barns!

Buy the best you can afford. In Aus the ones rated for asbestos are labeled "P2", but YMMV.

They sell replacement filters for it there as well. I can't recall the actual model name, but it's served me quite well. If your town has an Army Surplus store, they sell functioning Israeli gas masks (with filter) for about $40. I really don't know where you're gonna find a reliable respirator that will actually protect you for under $10.

I'm suprised you didnt say panties. Every cool exploRer knows that wrapping a set of panties around your face and creeping into a barn is the way to go. Or jock straps. Whatever may tickle your fancy.
