Focusing on your subject is a great thing to do.
A failed attempt at the aforementioned can be seen in number 5.
Also, tripods can be nice, unless you're into motion blur.
Manual settings for exposure compensation are also amazing things.

wow, you could say constructive things a most nice way. Your right, but the sarcasim isnt needed. Not everyone is born into a college photography course. On top of that, not everyone that enjoys talking photographs feels they need to take it to that level, or take a course.
