| | | The asylum is indeed there, but it is in a BAD neighborhood. Next door neighbors are bikers with a bad attitude.; It looks like a cool spot, but I have never been able to get up the balls to do it. Good luck man. Let us know how it went.
I have changed my personal exploring ethics code. From now on it will be: "Take only aimed shots, leave only hobo corpses." Copper scrappers, meth heads and homeless beware. The Jonsered cometh among you, bringing fear and dread. |

| | | Jons, Is there, or was there an "abandoned" used car lot next to it that the bikers use/used? GV

A loooong time ago. Yeah, they were local bikers(no colors), and the prez, sgt at arms, tres. and a few others were using the offices at the car lot for special guests. We got to stay there for a few nights, they kicked us to the "asylum", when the special guests showed up. All in all, we had a blast while we were there. Albuquerque had 4 soup kitchens at the time, not counting salvation armani. If you timed it right, you could eat like a king! Heh, even the bernardillilo(sp?)county detention facility had awesome food, you could keep going back for more until it was gone! Oh yay..the college had some freaky chicks too...they were all doing gypsen seeds and mesc. Ahhhh...good times! GV Ps. never never never eat the seeds! | | | I've been in it recently, had a small conversation with Jonsered about it right before we did it. It's nothing wild. I certainly wouldn't drive out from SoCal for it!! Didn't see any bikers either.

| | | that story about the Edith/Osuna asylum being guarded by psycho bikers and their rottwier is a bunch of BS!! i've been hearing that for years and no one has ever been able to prove or confirm it. It's a made up rumor designed to ward off vandals and squatters.

i was just joking about that...when you meet someone who's the object of local myth and legend it's hard to pass up...I'm glad everything went ok for you and i suppose it's not complete bs. How ever something just didn't add from what these other web sites where saying. On my own personal experiences there, i never was chased by bikers or a rottwieler and i spent a lot of time casing the place too. But i never did make it inside either. I was chased from a place along the canals about a half mile north of the asylum, i don't think they where bikers though. More like old people riding around in SUVs. If your ever in Albuquerque again, there are a lot of sites up and down Edith, but you have to look hard for them.
