| | Ice Vest < on 1/3/2007 10:01 PM >
| | | A friend of mine recommended an ice vest to me, which sounds stupid at first but then makes sense. If you wear heavy clothing, mask, holding equipment and it is 100 degrees out, an ice vest will keep you cool and focused on the site, not the temp. Take a look at the vest he uses: http://coolingvest...aids/ice-vests.htm He uses it at a nuclear power plant and is required to use it when near the core. I am not sure how pricey they are, but if you have the budget, then why not?

| | | they have similar things that don't only last for 2 hours, they have a bunch of tiny tubes with cold water in them that is constantly being cycled. They use them in space suits haha

| | | I've seen something like this before but it was invented in Australia, was a scarf, and lasted I think up to 6 hours. The way the fabric was made was the after you soaked it in water it evaporated slowly to cause cooling, and last a long time.

Yeah, one of them would be a much more practical buy.
This isn't boot camp and you are not a ninja. But you sure look like an idiot in that outfit. |

| | | why not just go to the local thrift store, pick up a jacket with a lining, get some light ice paks or gelpacks or whatever, and sew them into the lining? throw yer jacket in the freezer for a few hours before exploring, and you're all set

| | | Heat exhaustion comes from lack of hydration. Icepacks are only necessary when there's an opportunity of being overheated very quickly, like when you work near a nuclear core. On the other hand, if you're just asplorin', you don't need to wear one. Just bring enough water so that you sweat enough so that your body cools itself naturally. Jeez, common sense isn't so common.
Take off every 'Sig'. For great justice. |

| | | Actually I think those vests are an excellent Idea. Stick a couple of beer in your pocket and they'll stay nice and cold for when you are done...
