| | | This steel plant is being demolished, and this is all that's left of what was a large complex. I went out this morning and didn't see anyone. Is there normally security? If so I guess going early on new years day was a good idea!

| | | it looks like you got a chance to check this out at just the right time. Another day or two and this place is a goner. Be carefull, places that are in the middle of demolition are not always the safest places to be, especially inside. this building seems to be getting demolished from one side to the other, so being inside is one dangerous place to be. Great find, good shots, thanks for the share.

| | | The first of these is perfect. They kinda go downhill after that. The pictures aren't bad, it's just that the subjects you photographed don't interest me that much. Try taking number two again, but move back about 5 paces and complete the "road closed" sign so that it's less distracting. In number eight, the light in the upper right needs to be darkened by a lot to fix the blow-out. Other than that, there isn't a whole lot wrong with these that I've found. Good job, I'd be happy to see more.

Thanks for the feedback! I actually almost took the picture with the sign completely in the picture. I chose not to because everything else in the picture is incomplete and in pieces. I liked the sign and wanted it in the picture but it was too new and too nice, it seemed out of place in the image. Does that make sense, or does it not make up for the distraction? Perhaps I should have either eliminated it entirely or included it completely. Again, thanks for the input! [last edit 1/2/2007 11:22 PM by kemmer - edited 1 times]

| | | Kemmer, I also explored this power station, though I was fortunate to get there before demolition began. With that in mind you may be interested in this set of photographs from there: http://www.uer.ca/...urrpage=1&pp#post0 -Pirate.

How could i take the photo if it was during construction..? This is dated 1942. It is located somewhere on the Library of Congress page, where u can download these licence free images. I found it months ago, if you guys have a Colombia Steel Co., (later sold under a skecthy underbid to US Steel, then renamed Geneva Steel) being demo'd in Geneva, Utah -- that is it. This is a LF photo, so if you d/l the tiff you'll be amazed at what you will see. Tiff here: http://memory.loc....34800/1a34846u.tif Wikipedia: http://en.wikipedi.../wiki/Geneva_Steel

Going on this information, this would indeed be the same place. If you're interested in seeing more photographs from Geneva, check the regional board for Utah and you will find multiple Geneva entries. There is also an entry in the DB for this location. Finally, our website has two Geneva galleries: http://www.urbantr...20Power/index.html http://www.urbantr.../Geneva/index.html Thanks for showing us that photo. Pirate.
