| | | Power Dam in Conquerall Mills, NS (Attn: Teleglobe Crew) < on 12/28/2006 5:02 PM >
| | | Since alot of you are travelling to/from the Teleglobe Station, I thought I'd fill you guys in on another spot down that way. If you look at this Google map (http://maps.google...7948,0.086517&om=1) find where the Conquerall Rd. branches off of the 103. Follow the Conquerall Rd. for ~5 minutes. You'll reach the Crousetown Rd. At the Crousetown Rd. there is a river with an abandoned power dam on it. All doors and windows to the dam are boarded up (loosely). If you're going to go up on the roof of the dam you'll have to hop a fence that has obviously been hopped a million times before you. Beware of large openings in the roof. I've only been as far as the roof and got a good look inside the rooms you can see from that vantage point. I'm not sure if there is anything left inside but it is definitely worth a look (at least from the outside). I wouldn't make the trip specifically for this site but since it's only 5 minutes off of the highway, why not!?! I'll be back down that way on the 30th and will try to snap an exterior pic or two. You can't miss it as it's basically on top of the intersection of the two roads. Tomorrow morning this time I'll be getting off of a midnight shift and will try to snap some pictures of it on my way home.

| | | I think I've seen interiors elsewhere. I don't recall if they named the location but it kind of looked like this.

No, sorry. I had someone snap the pictures for me since I'm ~120km away.

I highly doubt any interior photos of this site are available anywhere online. I'll do my best to get some interior shots over the next couple of weeks unless another explorer ventures down that way before I do and can get them for us. I've never been inside of the dam however you can see inside through the large "sky-light" type holes in the roof, just on the other side of the fence on the top of the building (3rd pic).

| | | Great! Entering this place could be difficult. You could lower yourself ~10 feet down (on to the lowest level of the facility) in front of the main building (can't miss it)... There are probably other ways but I am unaware of them. I was there at dusk and haven't been back since

Ah, you're probably right then. I don't recall what I saw, I think it was a smaller power station somewhere in HRM, looked kind of like that though.

| | | I was down this way again yesterday and managed to snap a picture on my way by. I'm waiting until the snow/ice recedes a bit before I go any closer to it. With open holes in the roof, I'm not going to be climbing around up there on ice..lol. But, just to give you guys some impression of the size and layout of the site, this pic should help. I didn't have one to put with my earlier pics..
