Info on USC Catacombs?

I'm a student at USC right now, and I'm trying to get information on possible entrances to the catacombs beneath the University of South Carolina. I've got basic info on the catacombs, but no info on entrances. I found several possible access points, but if anyone here knows anything about them, please chime in. Thanks.

Pop any manhole on the campus grounds and you've found it.

Quite simply, there are no catacombs. They're just steam tunnels. A friend of mine even broke through the bricked up parts and they lead to nowhere.

Yeah, we looked for them too. It happens. There are an extensive set of steam tunnels, though.

Did someone also tell you the tale about the guy with one eye that lives in the tunnels? Seriously.

As a matter of fact, yes. My friend's big on ghost stories, and I'm big on infiltration, so we're planning on killing two birds with one stone.

We have excellent maintenance tunnels here, going all over. Last night I found a new one that got me in the bottom of the power-plant.

Anyhow, an alternative to popping manholes is finding a way into a basement utility room in an older building. Try for an unlocked window at ground level, hidden in the bushes or something. Most older utility rooms will have tunnel access. That's what I use.

It seemed like a good idea at the time...

Exactly what I was thinking! There are a pair of locked double-doors in the basement of Gambrell that say "Mechanical" above them that I think are a good possibility, but I'm still in the process of getting a bumpkey for BEST locks. Can you tell me any utility rooms?

Sorry man, I go to UMC, long way from you. But maintenance rooms work for me, they should work for you.

Maybe instead of getting bump keys, it'd be more in your interest to get the real keys. That'd be sweeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeet!

Dont try the double doors. I dont even think they lead in. There are better entrances. Although my first step in was through a manhole cover we actually found a better way in near gambrel.

The major issue is there are sections of the tunnel system. Each section is compartmentalized from the other. I know I have tried to map that place out. If you walk around at night you can find steam coming out in areas, and also shine your light down on some of the grates.

I should be back this summer and I plan on finishing my exploration of the tunnels. However Gambrel seems to be the most traveled section.

Also watch out there are several steam leaks usually and they can be dangerous.

Bring lots of water as well its fucking hot as goat balls.

"Better way in near Gambrell". My friend showed me a metal hatch on the sidewalk today behind Gambrell near the steam plant. I'm not sure if that's what you're talking about, but that's where we're going to try this weekend.

Its not near the plant actually I think thats just a water pipe. You will find alot of manholes actually lead to one room water pipe valvues and the like. The one infront of the cafitera book store is a one room job.
