| | | Friendly FYI :: THIS POST REFERS TO A PAID EVENT :: Here's a LAST MINUTE heads up for anyone interested in an official sanctioned UE event brought to you by the Vancouver Museum. Because this is a PAID event (which I am not affiliated with) I will not attempt to 'oversell' the event here. However, I will say that the the venue is apparently very cool, normally inaccessible, and not to be missed. We shall see... Briefly, here are the details: What: "Secrets of the City" September Tour. The tour will depart in a vintage GMC city bus (or substitute bus) and arrive at a mystery location for an approx 2 hour tour. Cost: $20 per person, $15 for members of the Vancouver Museum (and I think for groups of 5 or more) (think of it as a guided tour for $10/hr) When: Saturday, September 9, 2006, 10am, in front of the Vancouver Museum at Vanier Park. Clue: "A Multiplicity of uses" Tickets: must be purchased in ADVANCE (you CAN show up before 10am Saturday, but there is no guarantee there will be space; about 30 or 40 people can attend, as of this Tuesday, 15 spots were left). Register: Call the museum 604.734.7368 Mon-Sun 10am-5pm, Thurs 10am-9pm PDT Note: Tour takes place at industrial site. Please wear covered shoes. Also note: Normally, this tour takes place on the third Saturday of each month, excluding July, August, and December. This month, however, it has been scheduled for September 9th. Keep an eye on the Vancouver Museum website for news of future Secrets tours; I'm not sure if they'll continue to sponsor this tour forever... http://vanmuseum.b...ent_excursions.htm I'll try to post some photos after...

| | | Well have fun, I have thought about one of these tours for a kick, but there is so much to look at these days for me. I have just discovered a stretch of the Fraser that is currently blowing my mind. N.

| | | Nice. I might just be going on a self guided tour there one of these days. It looks like the perfect place to have a stroll through on a chilly, foggy Saturday morning, just as dawn is about to break through ... Assuming none of the machines are at work of course. Strange. There is a lot of unexplored industry in Richmond, and I'm pretty confident it's fair share of abandonments. The place deserves a lot more attention than it's getting.

| | | wow. that's some good UE gear you got there. At least you weren't in any risk of getting hit with errant machinery. ::
