That is a great idea, thanks. I hate when I stick my cell phone or wallet in a ziplock bag and it comes open or something.

It was actually Glass/grassy's idea...I just named the jar we use.

| | | I have an old backpack that fits tightly on my back so it wouldn't get snagged. I have modified it so that there are more pouches and protection for cameras and such. I suggest using something, you already have and modifying it, its not hard to add a couple pockets and padding.

Good call. I've found that simple is the best way to go. I've gone out exploring with nice bags and stuff and they are more conspicuous, and you have to worry about messing them up. When I'm going around on the south side of Chicago at night scoping out abandoned buildings, I definitely don't want to look like I have any money or anything of value. A shiny new Swiss Army or Lowepro backpack is likely to get stolen quick.

| | | I bring a small hydration pack that has a couple pockets. It's great because it is longer, kind of narrow and clings to my back, so it doesn't get stuck on things. Also, one of the pockets is nicely insulated and I like to bring enough food to last me overnight in case I have to hole up somewhere for whatever reason.

| | | I use stripped down army chest webbing bought from the local disposals shop and I wear a light jacket over the top so it doesn't look too sus. I have my camera, torch mobile, wallet and other bits in pouches on the webbing. Works quite well for my needs.

| | | Galls® Molded Nylon Duty Belt Our molded nylon duty gear delivers outstanding performance and durability at an incredible price. 2-1/4" W Lined with Velcro® so will adhere to underbelt Multi-release buckle for added security Finest 100% ballistic nylon Fade- and scratch-resistant Weatherproof and hand washable With various accessories also purchased thru Galls, or a local uniform store.( flash light rings, Silent Key Holder, cell phone case, glove pouch, etc.) When I used to explore with a photographer she carried a “water-proof” camera back pack. I don’t remember the brand name. Put together it all looks pretty “official”. Plus there's no rummaging, what ever I want is right there. [last edit 9/25/2006 6:34 AM by CaptOrbit - edited 2 times]

| | | I have a thousand camera bags and I'm not happy with a single one of them. The current vogue is my Tamrac Expedition 5. It's good enough....holds a good amount of gear + two water bottles and a resp. crammed into the other main pocket, with flashlights in the tripod foot pocket and tripod clipped to it with the straps. For a normal human being it's a pretty good UE photo bag.

| | | I figured this would be the best place to post this...no need to start a new thread. Have you guys used any messenger bags that you have found to be really durable and a fairly good size? I'm looking for a bag with those qualities for UE.
