| | | Whoa. I've been trying to track down info on the Hayden Mill for hours. I'm glad to hear that it's been done and is worth it. Just letting anyone in the Tempe area know that I'm down for a meetup. No car, though.

| | | I was walking by the mill today on A-mountain and there looks to be construction about to take place. I'd really like to see this place before it goes under. Anyone up for the challenge? It looks spectacular.

| | | I think after the hobo fire that took place a few years ago the place has been nearly impossible to get into. Also I heard they were gonna restore the place seeing as its ON Mill Ave, and its part of the history of the area or some such thing like that.

| | | Yea the mill on mill is nearly IMPOSSIBLe...i got in a little bit before every single door and entry way was welded shut. People from A mountain can see you, police are real close, and its on one of the busiest streets. There is another mill, somewhat close, that is doable, and easy. The tunnels are full of cockroaches though, lol.

| | | Yeah, this isn't a very active discussion. But what spots are there? For such a big historical region, we're really lacking in this kind of stuff.

| | | I vote we just set up a valley area mailing list. So if something comes up we could just e-mail everyone instead of counting on them checking the thread. Sound good?

| | | got my car back WOOT! lets get this shit goin! everyone who is down for a meet up pm me so i can get a list together then we can figure out who has cars and where everyone is, so we can arrange rides also i think we need to find a big enough space for 10 or so explorers to arrive and not look conspicuous and from reading this thread it looks like the sugar factory
so to get right to the point if your seriously interested in a meet up pm me for this RSVP type of thing
in your pm let me know if you have a car and your cross streets please [last edit 4/6/2007 7:35 PM by 42NNN - edited 1 times]

| | | Re: AZ Meetup <Reply # 74 on 4/9/2007 6:52 PM >
| | | Ok, i posted this under the Sugar Beet forum as well. I went there and checked it out. theres a handy cut in the fence, so gaining access is easier than anywhere else ive been. I wanna set up a location for it in the database, but im not full member. Also has anywhen been over to the old theater at Ray and Kyrene, very fun and very easy access with a great view from the roof. do it quick there going to put something in there.

| | | Hi Urban Cowboy - Can you post the pictures here in the forum ? I don't think you need to be a full member to do that ? Or if you would like, Email me the pics and I will post them for you and give you full credit for the pictures. As you know, I have posted many sites here and 1 large posting in the Full Members section. I think you and I live near each other ? (Mesa) Cheers LiNUXG33K

| | | hmmm. where might there be tunnels... ASU - not worth it / motion detectors Sky Harbor - Can you say felony? The 'middle lane' of the Deck Park Tunnel - I have always wanted to go there. hospital utility tunnels? - could be interesting
Whats the name of that abandonded school near downtown phoenix... or was it near the fairgrounds? btw a few years back (maybe 5-6) I read in the Arizona Republic about an abandoned underground night club. they had glass prisms embedded in the sidewalk to let light through. I can't find any info on it. Do you have any? [last edit 4/12/2007 12:57 AM by benstern - edited 1 times]

It was the franklin school...since i last went it was completely stripped...not worth it if it is still like that today...i think they were either tearing it down or renovating...

| | | when I visited the franklin school in 2005 it was boarded up and there was no inconspicuous place to park. I found a PDF file on google that said the place was closed because of too much pesticide in the soil around the area. I cannot imagine that there's much to see inside anyway.
As for the hayden flour mill, this page I found is the next best thing to getting inside. http://www.abandon...0Phoenix,%20AZ.htm And as for meeting up, I'd still like to do that when we decide on a time and a place.
