Idea on Tutorials

Ok so when I joined this forum, I figured that "tutorials, lessons, and useful info" ACTUALLY HAD tutorials in it (wow what a concept). But it turns out it doesnt seem to have that much, if any. I PM'd one of the moderators and I had this idea (whoa I actually had an idea...) of having people ACTUALLY write tutorials about specific things dealing with UE.

I could write some of them (and I WILL), or we can even just have a list of websites people could visit about that particular subject if it deems to illegal to post on this site.

Also the moderator I talked to (man I forgot who it is, damn short term memory), will post it in the GIANT RED "THREAD SUMMERY--Read this before posting!!" as ACTUAL tutorials, because when I went through there, all I saw was basic information, no tutorials.

Heres some starter ideas, and anyone could start up ideas and we could have the WHOLE community chip in and help out with errors and illogical ideas.

OH AND ONE MORE THING..remember THAT A TUTORIAL IS JUST A TRAINING GUIDE/GUIDELINES ITS NOT SOMETHING TO BLINDLY CONFORM TOO, just a thought of wisdom.

SO REALLY HERES THE IDEAS....

-Scouting and Reconnaissance
-Obtaining Maps/Blueprints/Identification
-Planning Missions
-Social Engineering
-What not to do
-Self Defense/Fighting
-Equipment
-Buildering
-Parkour
-Working out/Training for UE
-Inital Infiltration (stages and steps to infiltration)
-Security Systems/Bypassing them
-Lock picking
-Exfiltration (how to get the hell out of there)
-Inital things to do in Specific situations (for EX. Utility Tunnels, Transit Tunnels, abandoned buildings, Active Buildings,Drains, construction sites, ect.)
-Navigation (rural, urban, suburban)
-What to do if caught
-adaptability
-Creativity
-Stealth
-Rapelling/Rock climbing
-Rope knots and tying (i think thats how you spell it)

Other ideas that ARE related to UE and everyday life:
-Philosophy
-Psychology
-Physiology
-Biology/Physics
-Electronics
-Humor

ANY OTHER IDEAS???
And obviously the ideas have even sub-sections because some of them can be VERY complicated and some have different ways to do them.....

See the way I see it, everyone is best served when knowledge is open to everyone instead of a select few, that way if you REALLY want to know something you have the ability to. And if your lazy, well your struck out of luck.

Nice idea, but you'd need a pretty damn big disclaimer.

I like it. I would be more than willing to contribute with what information I have learned if needs be. Sounds like a great idea!

Ok so obviously tutorials take time but im thinking about first writing up a tutorial on Scouting and reconnaissance. But since I actually want to make it worthwhile to read, its gonna take me a little time to construct; along with my busay (I like busay instead of busy) schedule, so give it time, but it'll be the first of some I shall construct.

That's a GREAT idea. I would put it in a new part of the site, and people can click on a category and see all the tutorials relating to it. For example, you click on Stealth and a tutorial on movement, one on camouflage, and one on noise-making. I like the idea of specific tutorials as opposed to big ones. There is enough expertise on this site to put together a serious knowledge base. However, the UE skill set can overlap with say, the cat-burglary skill set, which might raise some eyebrows.

I am hopefully joining several other members of the community when I say that void's is an excellent idea that could really shape the site. Also, I think that only full members should be able to post them and maybe view them. That's a way of insulating us from amateurs or bad apples who want to seriously break the law.

Noone one said you couldn't post full blown tutorials. But being thread driven, asking people to read a frigging book may lead to...not many people reading it! This stuff HAS been done; you just need to poke around a little. Most of the "tutorials" are UE specific, so in "stealth" it might be regarding a specific piece of equipment, etc..

Condone it or not; a topic specific category like "lock picking", is a subject unto itself. Go to a locksmith website for that stuff, the same with climbing and rappelling; go hang out on a rock climbing forum, you will learn just as much, probably a hell of a lot more.

It's a UE website, and it can't encompass everything. I like things like shooting sports, but I'm not going to write a book about "the best small carbine to carry while in rural explore" in case you feel like calling a predator; no.. I'll leave that for the sportsmen's forums.

Before posting, think "will anyone want to read this?" It's like good talk radio. If its too involved in any specific "niche" probably it's better served being elsewhere.

But as I said, poke around, there are plenty of people who have put up some unique ideas about equipment, that type of thing.

I got your tour winner right here pussies, at least he'd crash out trying.

I understand wha your saying, but its slightly more difficult for some people to poke around, some people like the idea of things beings here too, like I said its AN idea, and I gave a list of ideas. Which I will in time either have sites FOR or Guide TO, so im basically doing the poking around for everyone else. Poking around can be hard.

I was going to say that many of the topics on that "list" have been covered here before, but decided against it because its only available to those members not too lazy to use the search tool

or to use google or go to the library or order books, or just to actually go out and experiment and do it.

Laziness is always the key factor, or just ignorance, usually both

But the idea im trying to create is to rid of both of those and have knowledge open to everyone instead of a few smart people, that way everyone benefits from this. And if anyone asks why im doing this, lets just say it makes me feel better and well leave it at that.

It is true that many of the topics have been addressed, and a tutorial writer might be encouraged to borrow from the board. However, the search function is a way to get some serious information, but a discussion about a topic is different from a tutorial, and therefore, a consolidated few pages about any give topic would kick ass from an information-gathering point of view.

Well enough talk of the idea, if we actually want to implement the idea LETS JUST START....

One thing people can do to contribute would be just even listing sites about whatever it is you want to contribute to.

OR if anyone wants to post their OWN tutorial that would be one heck of an accomplishment also, even if its just your first tutorial ever written. Just Repost a New thread on this section and post it as "Tutorial of-whatever it is-"

Or if its just links post it as "Links to--whatever it is--"

Anyone have any thoughts or disagreements or agreements or ideas or ehh I dunno anything?

Where exactly did the "explorers guide to threats" go? That was one useful guide.

And FYI for all, im creating a scouting and reconaissance guide and after that ill probably make a list of sites to visit on specific information, and then ill start to work on a planning guide tutorial.
