| | | Yes time did forget the island, theres lots of history, no shortage of things to find that for sure. Although if you want to see it in this state you better go soon as there are plans to do a lot more restoration on the island and make it into more of a park with lots of people there to upkeep it, so getting into some of the tunnels and things may be tricky.

| | | Ah, now those photos bring back some memories (sorry for reviving an old thread). I've been through Fort McNab a few times over the last number of years; what an awesome place. I remember tromping through that underground tunnel, the one you have to practically crawl to get into. As I recall, you had to stoop over pretty good to fit though the tunnel, and it barely cleared my shoulders; went on for quite a bit too, until it came to a dead end I believe. I gotta get back out there sometime.

| | | yeah, it does lead to a dead end, with some rooms off to the side. The tunnel was tall enough for me to walk through though i think, if i remember right, and i'm 6ft. That place is pretty sweet to explore.

| | | All I can say is be careful if you go through some of the tunnels. Not sure if you found the one we had (we had to crawl through a tiny hole in a door and I don't see any photos of this tunnel) but there was a few places where the floor had given away and was only covered with some spare boards. The boards had mostly fallen away and they fell into a very deep dark hole that could easily consume someone. so yeah just be careful of the holes in the ground. I believe the particular fort this tunnel was in was fort strawberry (there is a few different forts on the Island). I hope to get over there this summer and take some photos.

Yes, Strawberry Battery, its a little harder to get to then most of the other forts. I've been there a few times but I've never found anything below ground here. The holes your talking about might be at Fort Hugonin, I've seen some very deep\dark holes that go way down looks like a few levels but were boarded up pretty good all I could do was stick the camera in.

Yeah maybe I have the fort wrong. but yeah when ever you go down i guess you have to be careful underfoot. the passage was clearly blocked with a metal door but we got in..I suspect it was closed off due to these deep holes.

| | | Yeah, some of the boys I work with played at Fort Ives a couple times. I keep meaning to make my way over there, but I don't really feel like paying some random fisherman to take me over

It is definitely more than five dollars. Red Beard does pick ups and drop offs and has a website listed in the location profile in the UE DB, AFAIK.

| | | Usually rain washes everything away, cause the paint is water-based, but I don't want to haul my paintball equipment over there to play, I know plenty of places to play that aren't on Historic Properties. I am, on the other hand, going over there to shoot a short film in the near future.

| | | We should all plan some sort of weekend UE McNab's excursion. I've been trying to convince some friends of mine to go camping on McNab's again, but they seem less than impressed with my idea.
