New In TN

Im new to the boards and wanted to get a feel for who all was in the Nashville area and what all there is to explore around here. I have been checking out old buildings for years and thought maybe I was weird until I stumbled across a UE website this morning. Anyways, feel free to hit me up and I am game to go check some places out since I havent explored in quite some time and have the itch once more! I have driven past the Nuclear Power Plant in Hartsville, well it was a year ago, and read an older post about it. I thought about going there but I googled it and read that the USAF is using it to conduct electronic warfare experiments on local communications systems. Not sure if that is true though.

Welcome to the board. Do you live in Nashville proper?

this is from 2002 and i don't know for sure if it is the same place or not, but how many places like this could there possibly be in Hartsville?

http://www.conway....bdeal/bd021014.htm

and i believe this is the article you refered to Swoop...

http://www.ecology...com/cuenews31.html

sounds like a big load of conspiracy theory bs to me. the worst that could happen is just walk up to the gate and see if anyone tells you to leave. then you know if it's active or not.
the conspiracy link is from 2001... quite a few years ago, especially if they have started a new energy project (like in the first link) since then. none the less, most abandoned nuclear plants are under surveillance anyway.

interestingly enough, google map won't allow you to zoom in on hartsville, and the images that it does show are blurred. things that make you go "hmmm".

Are you now, or have you ever been?

I actually live in Goodlettsville. I work for a Mechanical and Refrigeration contractor so I sometimes get to go into old buildings with a permit! Actually its when an old building is being renovated for use and we get hired to install the HVAC and refrigeration. Like on 9th ave, I got to go into the building next to Lifeway where it is currently being renovated into a resturant. No camera with me that time. There are some churches in East Nashville that I work in as well. I do have some cool pictures from one of those. Hartsville soundeds like it would be interesting to drive out to even if only to take pics from the fence.

Hi there,

I'm not new to Nashville--lived here about 10 years--but I'm definitely new to the whole idea of urban exploration. I'm really keen to get into it but I'm having trouble finding interesting places to go. Does anyone have some ideas for sites where I'm unlikely to kill myself?

I found some drains today that looked rather tame if its not raining. I am screwed myself for the next two weeks so maybe sometime after that I will try to get out and about.

I think the big crane in West End looks pretty lovely.

I'm sure you'd be welcome to come out with us sometime if you're interested. You too, Swoop. We roll with kitties and we're hard as fuck. Or not, but some of us own boots.

I'd love to. I think some of my friends might be interested as well. Will stuff show up on the Events list or should I just keep an eye on this board?

Stuff doesn't really show up on events unless there's some kind of organization involved. I suppose you can watch this board, or I'll try and remember to get in touch if something's being planned. You can always stick your head in if there's something you'd like to check out and want company. Sometimes we just like to go eat or have coffee, and I'm sure you'd be welcome to come to introduce yourself.

Sweet. I'll keep an eye on this board, of course, and I'm usually available on AIM and Yahoo all the time, so please let me know. Thanks!

Gah, where have I been? Welcome to the board, dalamcd. We have a rockin' prison that we're going to on August 20th, and you're welcome to go along for that. Bring wasp repellant though. Oh, I'm probably going on the 6th too, with my cousin, if anyone would like to join us.

August 6th....hmmmmm. Might be game if I dont have to work. I did some research on wasp repellants for those interested. There are lots of home remedies out there! They were all geared more towards keeping them away from your home and not away from yourself. There was one that said you could attract and trap them with a half empty orange soda!
