Go in during the night, and keep quiet don't scream, don't yell and no airhorns.

well about going in at night my concern was people seeing flashlights/camera flashes through the windows... any suggestions?

I don't think there is really a solution, try going during a thunderstorm.

Use common sense. Go at night and don't shine flashlights through windows or in ways that would shine out the windows. Don't use camera flashes. Or, go during the day and act like you own the place.

"I feel like I just got in a battle of wits with some kid in a helmet I found licking a window."

go really really early in the morning (pre-twilight), then hang out till it gets light out. explore inside for a while. then exit quickly and act like you belong.

I agree with seany, act like you belong to be there. Just like social engineering. You can do lots of things and get away with it as long as you look like you are suppose to be doing them.

If you are worried about your flashlight giving you away, you might want to try using a red filter. Some flashlights (like those PVC - looking military ones) come with filters. Most of the time some red saran wrap and a rubber band will do.

I'm guilty of being VERY paranoid about this (crawling through an opening in plain sight) but you'd be surprised how oblivious people are about things like this. If it doesn't get their attention, then they probably won't even notice.

Take a lesson from the mafia. They off some guy by walking into a crowded place , popping the target in the head, dropping the gun and calmly walking away.
Extreme example yes, but the chaos of the killing supercedes the "noticing" of the killer, just another guy in a suit walking away like nothing happened.

I got your tour winner right here pussies, at least he'd crash out trying.

haha yeah definately did that this weekend ... walked out of an alleyway an hour later onto a late night street across from the gas station with about 30ft of rope stashed under my shirt cause my bag was carryin a lantern... we jokingly comented on how cool the alley was and how my new born baby (the rope) deserved to see it!

there were people walking around at the gas station and stuff but i dont think anyone actually noticed that three people had walked down an alleyway and emerged an hour later covered in dirt, which is good i guess haha!

Hello everyone! I'm pretty new here, I think this is my first post... I registered a long time ago but I don't think I ever posted.

Anyway, about exploring in the daylight, we did it earlier today, although it was raining, so that may have helped. A friend and I went into an abandoned bowling alley in the middle of town around 2 o' clock. It has large glass windows in the front, so I was a little worried, but ended up just going with the "act like you own the place" method. I think a couple of people saw us through the window, but obviously didn't care enough to do anything about it, because the whole thing went off without a hitch. I took a bunch of pictures that I'll probably put up here soon.

Hahahaha, Monty Python, i love it!

As for not being seen...
As demonstrated tonight, don't bring rowdy teenagers who will throw debris off of roofs. A few friends of mine showed up at a favorite location of mine... They decided to throw debris, thus attracting cops. Basically, my friends left, and i hung out with a ladyfriend of mine, and they got away, myself and the ladyfriend got busted. Fuck. That. Shit.

Basically, be quiet, try to find back entrances, it looks like there are woods are trees that'll provide perfect cover for you. Once you're in, nobody will see you(even in daytime) unless you're right against the window... Screaming... And even then, that's a fat chance.

Nothing. I was cooperative and gave them the photographer with nostalgia act.
They just gave me and my girl a kick in the ass and told us to go home.

If it costed me, a good friend of mine would've been getting a mudhole stomped in his ass, as opposed to me posting on here.

;)
