| | | This is an eternal topic here on UER. Just for kicks, you might try the "Search" button about 2 inches down on the left hand side of the screen. Most things have been discussed here at least once. This link should answer your questions about shoes and boots. http://www.uer.ca/...=1&pp#post12post12
I have changed my personal exploring ethics code. From now on it will be: "Take only aimed shots, leave only hobo corpses." Copper scrappers, meth heads and homeless beware. The Jonsered cometh among you, bringing fear and dread. |

Are you unhappy with the steel-toed boots? I mean, I think that'd be your best bet for abandoned buildings (especially if they're waterproof and have a nice grippy sole). [last edit 6/5/2006 9:46 PM by tick - edited 1 times]

| | | I think steel toed boots would be perfect for abandonments, especially if they have a plated sole as well. Personally I use Original S.W.A.T. boots. Same one's I use 'on Car' as well.

| | | I like to go barefoot, it helps me keep in tune with my surroundings. I like to get a real feel for the place. I also recommend that you find another hobby for asking such a question. God knows what you might do if you encounter a set of stairs or an open window in and abandoned building. Security guards can see in the dark and shoot killer bees from their mouths. They can read minds and wave their magic wands and call the cops on you instantly. Ever notice how it's always the guys that have been on the site less than a week asking these? New rule: you cannot post for the first week forcing you to learn how to read, or get bored and be on their merry way. Seriously, does it matter what you wear? Common sense tells you shoes or work boots. Kinda like the flashlight, as long as it works and pukes light out one end, you stand a chance of being OK. You read my mind; barefoot. Seriously, what if he tramps in a radioactive puddle because he didn't heed the warnings we been giving about staying off DOD sites, and such? Shouldn't they be lead lined? Will the steel toes offer any protection from an accidental detonation of a half buried 105 shell? What about that nasty plutonium dustthat seems to be everywhere? Maybe some little disposable booties to go over the boots for quick decontamination. Works for asbestos too.

| | | I usually wear these shoes called "Keen Newports" they cover the toes but are still fairly light and airy. Also for lightly flooded areas they drain nicely as long as the water isnt contaminated.

| | | Just go explore barefoot. Sure, it hurts a little but at least you will not ruin your shoes if you walk on that big rusty nail sticking out of the floor. Back to the topic, I'm locking that one. Next time Joe, use the search button and a bit of common sense. [last edit 6/21/2006 2:43 AM by Mickael - edited 1 times]
