| | Advantages or Dis of being young < on 5/25/2006 6:18 AM >
| | | Hello. I thought I would make this partly a "Hello" thread at the same time as asking an question that seems a bit important. I'm fourteen. This is the part of my Hello that pertains most to my question, so I reckoned I'd get it off my chest. I have read Access All Areas, and it piqued my interests.
I'm behind the stupid guy with the armband. This picture is mostly here to show you that I look slightly older than the short bastards you find populating high-schools today. I am neither a ninja or a sniper, and I am aware of and comfortable with this. I don't idolise them either. Ninjalicious seems like a good person to idolise, so that's what I'm working on. My question. What advantages do I have, being fourteen, in regards to confrontations with people who don't want me to be where I am? If I do, how should I play them - do I go with bored teenager in over his head, nerdy kid taking photos, or scared guy terrified of the cops? My disadvantages seem clear - not being taken seriously, not having the option of using the excuses most UErs do, etc. Any ideas?

To be to the point.. All of the above, depending on the situation. When I was 13 or 14 I infiltrated a fancy-schmancy golf club down on the east cost of FL. If I was any older I prob wouldn't have gotten away with it. I still have the pics from that trip. maybe I'll scan them & post em up. I think your age will help you more than ya think. not only from the legal standpoint, but you can also plead ignorance .....

| | | not being taken seriously can be a VERY LARGE advantage if you know how to play people, and you know any authority figure won't take you seriously more or less.. Figure it this way, a cop busts you, to him you are some moron punk 14 year old kid fooling around in places that you shouldn't (which all kids do and he knows this) in which you get some massive lecture about his power trip and maybe he take you back home to your parents.. just play scared (which may or may not take much acting, I don't know) and just agree with'em and don't correct anything they say even if you know for a fact that he's a total moron then get the hell outa there.. Personally I would never rely on pleading ignorance, it tends to piss people off when it's something that is clear to anyone that you shouldn't do.. but look more this way, try not to get caught but if you do the charges will be thrown away when your 18 and it's doubtful much you do will really make a judge throw the book at you unless you are being very dumb and doing things that common sence say are retarded.. Just learn how to manipulate people and hope the cop isn't better at it then you, because then you will look like a tool and it may backfire alot.. And in all reality you have more excuses for UE then most people due to your age.. your young you are expected to do stupid things and be in places you shouldn't be and just exploring.. However when your in yer 20s and older you are expected to have conformed and become one of the sheeple.. by this you are expected to sit there working a 9-5 living in your house surrounded by a white picket fence with your 2.5 kids and a dog wearing your blinders ignoring shells of old buildings because they are eyesores on society.. I think the 0.5 was supposed to be the dog. Anyways this is going off topic. One disadvantage are parents. If your parents are cool with you doing what ever you want then you're fine.

nope the .5 comes from and avg. they took all the people in the US and asked how many kids they had and after they averaged it every american had 2.5 kids.

No, families were actually told to have "2.5 kids" back some decades ago, or actually might have been 3.5. Either way this has nothing to do with the topic.

| | | Also, I think that some adult who sees you pop a manhole or climb a fence would be a lot more likely to just yell at you themselves and leave it at that, compared to calling the cops on some older people...

Hell even if you do get busted 9 times outa 10 you pretty have the same odds as anyone else here.. You just have better odds for getting out of it with a slap on the wrist and a stern lecture.. And I am always happy to corrupt the minds of the youth.. Also I just wanted to say this as well, you still have to be smart about it, you CAN get completely screwed.. You just have better odds if you know what your doing.. [last edit 5/27/2006 3:11 AM by Pravus - edited 1 times]

| | | yeah i would definately have to agree.. i would skip school to go to these abandoned mills/barn behind the school and go poking around while cars drove by... no one cares and like everyone said they just think youre some young punk rather than some creepy drug dealer or something. why did i have to turn 19?!

| | | I find it depends on where you live & what level of teen destruction there is in your community. If you live in a small town where there is a ridiculous amount of destruction done by teens, you're probably going to get hit hard if you're caught. but if the teens in your community are generally well behaved, then most people will turn a blind eye to your "curiosity" as they call it ;) Just my experience.

| | | i'd say the main advantage to being young is being able to run from the po-po.
and then if they catch you, you won't be charged as an adult. [last edit 6/13/2006 1:14 AM by imprezawrxsti - edited 1 times]
