I agree, we only educate professional criminals, this isn't amateur night!
On the up-side man, the location database is full of locations we think would be nice targets for crimes! So while we won't encourage you to commit crimes at all, we will give you ideas of where you should commit your crimes, and play host to several threads about the best equipment we think should be used for these crimes! For instance, I seem to recall one on grappling hooks ( http://www.uer.ca/...rrpage=1&pp#post18 ), and who ever used a grappling hook to go somewhere that they were supposed to go?
I mean, how would that conversation go? Something like this perhaps:
You: "Hi, I'm into old buildings, could I go in your brewery and have a look around?"
Owner: "Sure thing kid! Just toss your grappling hook up onto the roof and then rappel in through a skylight! ...Sorry, I lost the keys, but I don't mind at all if you go inside."
You: "No problem, thanks alot man!"

Or we could delete all the threads that are only good for entering buildings without authorization, and juveniles everywhere would have to go through the trouble of watching the discovery channel for great ideas like rappeling into a building through a skylight.

Whether it is right or wrong to encourage juveniles to commit crimes is a moral decision, and unique to every person based on their own personal morals. I consider all the threads where people start trying to force their ethics and morals on others to be equal helpings of ridiculous, pointless, and moronic.

But like it or not, most of this website is built around at the very least, trespassing, and going places that are illegal for you to go, so if we're going to stop encouraging minors to commit crimes, we should probably make an age verify by credit card thing like some porn sites have.

And if you don't think this website encourages minors to commit crimes, I'd be interested in hearing exactly which part of a cool website with a bunch of people all over the world who commit crimes, containing pictures of their crimes and various help on how and where to commit these crimes for yourself, isn't going to encourage a minor to commit crimes.

I'd reconsider some of that statement, and tone it down; a lawyer would have a very hard time defending a client who openly endorses some of those views! It's a legal issue moreover than just a moral one that should concern us as well. Kids remember the internet is not the wild, wild, west, and it's as real as the agencies that oversee it are!

Oh, the hostility!

Anyway, in my personal experience, if I'm not UEing with someone who has already been to a location, and knows about entrances as well as the whereabouts of security/cameras, I try to travel as light as possible.

Binoculars are good....but a monocular is (maybe not as powerful) much smaller and serves the same purpose if you're just scoping guards.

Try using smaller flashlights with LED bulbs that have colored filters to go over the fronts (this info, thanks to ryanxpromise). Mini-mag makes a 3LED modification kit for its smallest flashlight so if you need the illumination, it's there. But in cases where you just need to see the ground to keep from tripping and want to tone down the illumination so as not to be seen through windows when you're exploring at night, use a tshirt or slide-in filter.

Water! It's so important to keep yourself hydrated. You may even become stuck somewhere for a few hours, hiding from security or something and I find that many people I have UEd with are not prepared for that. Might I recommend SIGG bottles which you can purchase through Swiss Knife Shop online (they don't leave a flavor to your water like plastic does, will not leak toxins after a few months of use, and will also survive 500 ft drops from the tops of mountains).

I also take a point-and-shoot digital camera on my first break-ins, so I can at least get some pictures if I can never get in again, but am not weighed down with a tripod, camera and film. When I begin to feel really comfortable with any one place, I will even drag along my medium format camera, which weighs a ton.

I'm an adult.

If your gonna give advice, especially to kids, your shit better be tight, and right.

I have no interest in fucking-up someone that just woke-up, and is up-n-coming in this world.

The hurt locker's real, work with it.

Well you maybe new to the site but you have all the basics down well. I will say however monocular's can be far more powerful then binos but you dont get the field of vision.

Exactly, and Mark knows this well. With a mono you lose depth perception as well. Lower magnification (6X) is preferred when trying to acquire targets on land, especially moving ones. Here's one of the sites I used to help bring me up to speed.

This a compact pair of tactical binoculars, excellent for day use. They're not cheap, but will last a lifetime if cared for properly:

Steiner 6x30 Military R Waterproof & Fogproof Porro Prism Binocular with 8.2-Degree Angle of View
