You're much better off splicing into the video feed before you get into the main building and playing back a looped feed of empty hallways.

pardon my contradiction but doesnt that go against the UE ethics? not to mention carrying around the equipment (at my age anyways) isnt exactly conventional

Most cameras will be positioned so that you cannot walk under them or approach them without being seen by them. If you can determine the method of monitoring (video recording or security guard observation or both) you may be able to circumvent the system. If it is only a guard monitoring the camera's monitor, you may be able to lure him away from the screen with a distraction or wait for his rounds to begin (if it is only one guard). If the system is recorded but not monitored by a security guard, you may be able to conceal your appearance and walk right past the camera and hope that it is not reviewed at a later time (if you follow UE moral code and take nothing, the video may not be reviewed). If the camera is of a more advanced type, your motion will trigger a recording to begin or an alarm to summon a guard. These types of cameras are more often found in prisons or high tech facilities that can afford the better equipment, if you are infiltrating a lesser facility, motion capture cameras are unlikely.
Depending on the building, you may be able to access the false ceiling area and move across an area unseen, above the camera but this is very time consuming and depends on the construction of the ceiling and often requires special equipment for moving along "I" beams or ropes and anchors or very nimble "light-foot kung fu" tippy toe technique to keep from falling through the ceiling.
I would use a high power spotlight (1 million power or greater, oh, and cordless) and aim it at the camera to bloom out the image and camera lens. Please also wear a hood or mask, just in case. If this technique is performed with stealth, guards and the recording may just believe that the camera had a failure (don't jump out in the open and open fire with the light - just poke an eye around the corner and then the spotlight and blind 'em). Oh, and if you ever come across any chaff grenades, please let me know, I am still searching for those on the Net.

thats actually a good idea
..incidentally, what exactly is a chaff grenade? and what does it do? is it like a flash bang without the bang?

In Canada, you come under the "Youth Criminal Justice Act" legislation until you are 18yrs old.

This means that police "must" consider what they call "alternative measures" before they can place you under arrest.

This could mean writing an essay, apologising, or some other crazy thing thats supposed to provide "more meaningful consequences than arrest" according to the act.

Look it up on the internet...

lol, more meaningful, sure...

chaff grenade=he's referencing a videogame

my advice:if possible avoid teh camera(s) if possible, if not hide in the open: shoe lifts, proper(for the site) clothing , hat to obscure face.

if you're the DIY type, build a small E.M.P. device; though its kind of really illegal

possibly use a high power IR emitter pointed directly at the camera to blind it? this will reveal your setup location, but will keep them from knowing what you're up to while you're there, and it can be done long-range[in theory]

Smart cameras can tag you then a live person may watch in real time. The automated system can track you through multiple cameras, right your car, grab it's tag number, make and color, remember that, and your face. It can automatically reacquire you the same way days, weeks, or months later. You will likey never know where all the cameras are. There are few these systems in use, but they're out there, and you won't believe what then can do!

EMP device? Electromagnetic pulse? You suggesting knocking out the whole circuit, or just the power grid to gain access? That is consider a weapon of mass destruction. Life in club pen, no thanks.

A conventional IR source will not work on a multiple camara system, and do little to an individual camera in daylight mode.

Actually you can still be fined at 14, I was 15 when I got my first trespassing ticket, not easy to pay of $98 when you aren't even old enough to have a job, However I don't know how it works in Canada or wherever you are.

Actually, ducking under cameras isn't too unreasonable. Take your local shopping cneter for example. The cameras are lined along the wall, all pointing out. Cameras usually have a fish-eye lense so a really wide cone of vision, but a cone nonetheless. If you could hug the walls, theoretically, you could get under them.

But most security pros (like the ones that install cameras for anything more important than your local gas station) usually have overlapping camera FOVs.

But then again, if it's night time, unless the cameras are NV capable (which some are) then you could just wear some drab clothing and saunter on by. If they are NV cameras, they usually have IR illuminators, which things like NV goggles can see (like mine... And boy are they bright!).

If they are NV cameras... Just give up and go somewhere else... It's probably some really important place that has a lot of money and can get you in mad trouble.

Bringing exploration to Clarksville.

Speaking of which..
My current job is installing security/surveillance systems. Most gas stations or department stores etc usually have cameras where they expect theft, or an incident to happen. However I have done work at an abandoned test facility (Yes I got to explore a little) and they wanted most doors and 1st story windows covered in dual POV cameras... you aren't sneaking by those.
So from my professional opinion, you won't be able to sneak under or around it, the best thing to do would be to disconnect the power if you can get next to it, assuming you want to take the risk.

Yeah but if you disconnect the power, isn't that B&E? If not it will sure help to prove that was your intent. You may also power-down the fire alarm...people could die. It should also set off an alert. Compromising a site's alarm/com system integrity is never an acceptable practice in my opinion.

This is just common sense. Say one was to defeat a security system by whatever means, then what? What can you do with the pics? Wait seven years before you post them, or just post the evidence of your B&E for anyone to see? I'm old enough to know when to stop, and walk away. Plenty of other things to explore.....

I've personally never done it, but I meant disconnecting power to just the camera it's self (two little black and red wires) It happens all the time anyways on it's own, I'm always all around my state fixing it.

Well, wouldnt you have to sneak up on the camera to do so?

Why can't life be like video games with ONE lone camera that turns really slowly, and security guards that think aloud all the time?

Also, yeah Glass. I kinda want to go to that imaginary place too lol.
