| | | Great meeting you guys! Glad I went. TBP, I have the same 2C Maglite - I bought the 3 watt LED conversion for it at crappy tire. It's much brighter and the batteries seem to last forever.

I've looked at the LED conversion every time I've been in there since it was on sale last summer and I didn't bother to buy it. It was like $12, regularly $29.99.. I've been using a really good Nexxtech Radio Shack 3 LED light.. I don't know how long it'll hold up but I really like the light. I'm crossing my fingers the LED conversion goes on sale again.. then I'll buy it! I wasn't sure whether it was worth it but if you've had a good experience with it, I'll definitely grab it to upgrade my #1 light.

| | | Tribeachpunk, I found those double doors you were talking about. The map was super helpful, after I had already found it that is. The door was locked, but I’m sure it was the right place, since you can see in through the cracks in the door. The basement is almost as crazy as the other levels; it really is a dungeon in there.

Oh really, its locked already?! Glad my map was helpful! What time did you go? Maybe its only locked after hours? Its worth trying whenever you're in the LSC.. Because they were wide open for us.. I didnt even notice a locking mechanism..!

| | | I checked it again today at around 2:30, it was open. There’s a lock in the knob, you can unlock it from the inside. I decided against going too far in since it was so early in the afternoon, and I have a paper to write that’s due tomorrow. The fact that it is locked and unlocked regularly suggests people are in and out all the time.

| | | We won't be meeting this month unless someone else wants to organize the meet. I am leaving for a trip on Thursday...but on my trip I am checking out a few places along the way...

I will also be absent from this month's meeting unless I somehow wind up back in Halifax on that particular Sunday. I'm in the process of moving/renovating in Bridgewater so, sadly, I will no longer be a regular at our monthly Halifax meetings. I'll do my best to make it to them when I can As for not having a monthly meeting because there is no one to organize it, there is no reason why the meetings cannot continue to take place. An 'organizer' isn't really necessary.. We all know that it is at 2PM on the FIRST SUNDAY of the MONTH at the SECOND CUP on SPRING GARDEN. Even if two people show up, the meeting can still be productive and worthwhile. I say we continue to have them. We should all make an attempt to RSVP via the UER Events tab on the left side of this screen. If the meeting needs to be relisted on the events tab on a monthly basis, I can or another local member, can look after doing so.

| | | I hate to keep making comparisons to 2600 meetings, but largely this is kind of how they are run. Avoiding an organizer is best only because it's putting responsibility on one person, and almost making them into a "figurehead". As far as the coffee shop and the public is concerned, we're just a bunch of people that meet for coffee once a month and talk, not a tightly organized group, or organization. Insofar as we keep the date, and time the same there's no need to organize any further, unless there is an activity outside of the normal meetings being planned. | | | I just want to try and avoid the issues we had with the first meeting. But most of us know one another now so...just as long as someone puts up some sort of indication to other members of this forum of who we are its all cool.

| | | As far as I know there wasn't. Check out the McNabs cleanup thread, I think UD and I were the only ones that were going to attend, or were on the Maybe list. He dropped to do that, and I dropped because I was really sick. I suggested maybe for this month, just because NO ONE showed up (as far as we know) we should just push it ahead to next sunday, just so we can ensure one meeting for this month.
