HELLO FORUM!
IM A NEW MEMBER AS OF FIRST PART OF APRIL. FRIENDS WITH NEMESIS. HAVING LIVED IN UTAH COUNTY MY WHOLE LIFE AND WORKING AT A SUPPLY WAREHOUSE WITHIN 200 YARDS OF GENEVA FOR THE LAST 9 YEARS, I HAVE BEEN IN AND AROUND THE PLANT FOR QUITE SOME TIME. IN THE PAST I HAVE ACTUALLY DELIVERED PARTS AND SUPPLIES INSIDE GENEVA, WHILE IT WS UP AND RUNNING.AROUND THE FIRST OF APRIL I INVITED NEMESIS AND MY BROTHER TO TAKE MY FIRST TOUR OF GENEVA SINCE IT BEING CLOSED. AFTER QUICKLY FINDING A GOOD PARKING PLACE AROUND 11PM, WE MADE OUR WAY ACROSS SEVERAL FIELDS AND DRYED UP MARSHES. AFTER FINALLY ARRIVING AT AND INFILTRATING THE TALL SECURITY FENCE AND THE FULL AND RUSHING MOAT STYLE DITCH WE MADE OUR WAY UP THE HILL TO THE NORTH WEST MOST BUILDINGS. AFTER A FEW HOURS OF EXPLORING AND VENTURING IN AND OUT OF TOWERS AND SCALING CONVEYER CATWALKS WE DECIDED WE HAD BETTER CALL IT A NIGHT. AFTER SEARCHING THROUGH OUR LAST SHACK WE SPOTTED A PERIMETER PATROL TRUCK MOVING QUICKLY AROUND THE BUILDINGS SO WE DECIDED TO JET. AFTER GETTING BACK ACROSS THE "MOAT" AND THROUGH THE FENCE WE DECIDED TO AVOID HIKING THROUGH THE MUD AND MARSH SO WE JUST HEADED NORTH ON THE TRAIN TRACKS, WICH PROVED TO BE A MUCH FASTER AND EASIER WAY.

TRIP #2: THIS LAST WEEKEND ****WOW****

THIS LAST WEEKEND ME, MY TWO BROTHERS A FRIEND TOOK OUR SECOND TRIP INTO GENEVA.WE SET OUT AT 10:30 PM. THIS TIME WE PARKED WALKED STRAIGHT DOWN THE TRACK, GOT THROUGH THE FENCE AND ACROSS THE "MOAT" WHICH WAS NOW BARELY A TRICKLE COMPARED TO LAST WEEKS RUSHING WATER. WE MADE IT FROM CAR TO FIRST BUILDING IN ABOUT 15 MIN. ALOT FASTER THAT LAST WEEKS 1 HOUR. I LEAD THE NEW VISITORS THROUGH THE FEW INTERESTING PARTS OF THE SMALL AREA WE HAD PREVIOUSLY EXPLORED. WE BROUGHT WITH US THIS TIME, RESPIRATOR FILTER MASKS, WHICH I HIGHLY RECOMMEND DUE TO THE AMOUNT OF STEEL DUST AND UNKNOWN PARTICULATES (MOLD,ASBESTOS,ECT) WE THEN PUSHED ON TOWARD THE MASSIVE BUILDINGS TO OUR EAST. ON OUR WAY TO THEM WE FOUND A CONVEYOR TUNNEL THAT WE WALKED THROUGH GOING INTO THE HILLSIDE WE ALSO FOUND A FIELD LITTERED WITH OLD "CAULDRON" TYPE POTS THAT THEY FILLED WITH MOLTEN SLAG TO CARRY TO THE DUMP SITE. THESE WERE CARRIED WITH MACHINES WE ENCOUNTERED LATER IN THE NIGHT. MACHINES SO BIG IT LOOKED AS IF THEY COULD SMASH A KENNECOTT SIZE DUMPTRUCK WITH NO PROBLEM. WE APPROACHED THE FIRST LARGE BUILDING ONLY TO BE DWARFED BY THE THREE TOWERING SMOKESTACKS STANDING IN THE CENTER OF THE BUILDING. OUTSIDE THE MOON WAS SO BRIGHT WE COULD WALK ABOUT WITH NO PROBLEM AFTER ENTERING THE FIRST BUILDING WE KEPT OUR LIGHTS OFF AND WALKED QUIETLY INSIDE TO FEEL OUT THE PLACE AND GET A HEADS UP OF ANYONE POSSIBLY IN THE AREA. JUST AS WE APPROACHED THE CENTER OF INSIDE THE BUILDING A LOUD ECHOING BANG RANG OUT IN THE BUILDING. MAN! WE JUST ABOUT SHIT!
WE CONCLUDED, THAT WITH BUILDINGS SO LARGE A SLIGHT WIND OR JUST TEMP DROP MAKES THE BEAMS IN THE BUILDING MOAN, POP AND BANG. AFTER THAT WE HEADED SOUTH BUILDING TO BUILDING, SOME INSIDE THE HUGE WAREHOUSE OTHER OFFICE STYLE ONES JUST TO THE WEST OF THE BIG BUILDINGS. WE SLOWLY VENTURED IN, AROUND, UPSTAIRS AND DOWN THROUGH LOCKER ROOMS, OFFICES, ELECTRICAL ROOMS, STEEL BATH POOLS, CATWALKS, OVERHEAD CRANES, BATHROOMS, PORTABLE OFFICE TRAILERS, BREAKROOMS, MECHANIC AREAS, STOCKROOMS, VENTILATION STATIONS, PUMP ROOMS, FLOODED BASEMENTS(WATER 3-4' DEEP), GIANT EMPTY "SKIMMER" TYPE WATER TANKS, CAULDRON MOVERS AND BRICK OFFICE BUILDINGS WERE JUST A FEW OF THE COUNTLESS INTERESTING SITES WE EXPLORED. I COULD GO ON AND ON FOR PAGES ABOUT ALL THE SITES IN DETAIL BUT DONT HAVE TIME.
WE ENDED UP GETTING BACK TO THE CAR AT ABOUT 4 AM. FEET HURTING AND TRIED WE ALL AGREED WE WERE PUMPED AND COULD HAVE KEPT GOING IF NOT FOR OUR WIVES WAITING AT HOME AND PRIOR OBLIGATIONS THE FOLLOWING DAY.
IN CONCLUSION, GENEVA CAN BE SUMMED UP IN TWO WORDS *****F@&!ING MASSIVE*** WE WANT TO GO BACK IN OR A THIRD TIME, I SUGGEST ANYONE WANTING TO SEE THIS LARGE PIECE OF UTAH HISTORY BEFORE IT IS GONE, SHOULD REALLY DO SO. I HIGHLY recommend IT. (EXCEPT A SINGLE OFFICE WE FOUND. WHERE A DISGRUNTLED SALVAGE WORKER (MY GUESS) TOOK A NASTY CHILI DUMP ON A CHAIR.
ANYONE WITH QUESTIONS, THINKING ABOUT GOING IN, PLEASE REPLY OR P.M. ME. I WOULD BE MORE THAN HAPPY TO GIVE YOU DETAILS OR SUGGESTIONS. I ALSO HAVE MORE THAN 200 REALLY GOOD PICS FROM OUR TRIPS IN. ALSO, WE ARE PLANNING A THIRD TRIP IN WITH A VERY SMALL GROUP (ABOUT 3) ANYONE WHO WOULD BE INTERESTED IN POSSIBLY JOINING US PLEASE LET ME KNOW. I COULD SAVE YOU ALOT OF TIME AND WALKING, SHOW YOU INTERESTING STUFF AND PASS BY THE NOT-SO-INTERESTING STUFF. WE ALSO FOUND A ROOM WITH ACCESS TO AN UNDERGROUND CANAL FLOWING PRETTY RAPID AND A 9 STORY STAIRWELL THAT LEADS TO THE TOP OF A BUILDING AND ACROSS A CATWALK WHERE A GREAT-HORNED OWL MUST SIT DURING THE DAY(LOTS OF OWL FECES WITH RODENT AND BIRD BONES IN IT).
ANYWAY, HOPED YOU ENJOYED ME AIMLESSLY RAMBLING ON ABOUT OUR ADVENTURE.
LOOK FORWARD TO MAYBE MEETING SOME OF YOU AND LEARNING WHAT ALL UTAH HAS TO OFFER FOR U.E.

The caps hurt, but thanks for sharing your exploration. Post the pics! We'd love to see them.

Did you encounter any security personnel? We ran across a campfire and a pickup last time...scary shit.

PLEASE FORGIVE. I do apologize about the caps on my last post. like I said, I am new at the whole forum thing and did not realize how many feelings I could hurt with the touch of one button. So again, please forgive. To those who found it in their hearts, the bravery to read such foreign script I thank you, and will try to not let it happen again. My reason? At the place I work, all product codes, transactions, and computer commands must be done in caps. Thanks to urban pirate and SLCblue for decoding such a cryptic message, you guys are alright To nemesis, thanks for gettin my back! And to the english major from out of state, please be understanding that the education in this state might be sub-par.I will try to learn from my mistakes. but like nemesis said "lets keep it U.E.> not grammar. Thanks for being understanding.

We did have a truck come roaring up and past us two times right after we got through the fence and once again when we were about to leave. Also, as we made our way south we came to a clearing that had two small industrial generators running and hooked to two flood lights. Never saw anyone in the lights except a truck that came by to possibly refuel them. Not sure though. I live for being super sneeky. really want to "hit" old mill. have a good idea for getting up and in. also own good surveillance equip. (wireless nightvision cameras and handheld receiver) you guys planing a hit soon? I have read all the recon everyone has done.GREAT WORK! has anyone you know got in successfully....without being let in?

Mill...what exactly do you mean? There is the mill up the hill by the moat on the west side of the complex, but it's fairly boring. The main buildings are far more rewarding, IMHO. We've managed to scope most of the northern end of the main buildings, we would really like to push further east and south, however.

Hey! English major 1 and 2, quite time SSSHHHHHH!!!!
If you want to critique peoples posts your in the wrong place.
This is for UErs not cap patrol, so take your orange sashes and be gone.

May #3 enter stage-left on your own lecture?

-"quiet", not "quite"
-"people's", not "peoples"
-"you're", not "your"
-"UErs" is wrong, though "UEers" is also dismal, but at least better
-"begone", not "be gone"

Like anything in life, there's no need to be entirely anal about the occasional spelling error, but five gross errors in three lines is beyond discouraging.

Now on-topic, Bluevale, welcome to the hordes of the damned...adventuring is fun ;)

Go check them out and leave a comment telling me what you think. Nothing to spectacular, but a few turned out nice. None of you happened to make a Geneva visit tonight as well did you?

GREAT PICTURES! Those look really good. I am going to have to try a trip at dusk. The total darkness that you get from going in the middle of the night leaves a lot unseen. Also, looks like you have some real nice photo equipment. My photography is pretty amateur with pretty basic settings, would really like to get some know-how. Also, most of my Geneva pics are under complete darkness, wich seems to swallow up my flash in a horrible way. Awesome pics though!
What general area did you ind that cool utility basement? On any of your trips have blue and yourself come across that mammoth mechanical gear? I think that would make for some really nice pics, in proper lighting. NICE WORK!

GREAT PICTURES!.... [taken out to save space]

Yeah, we've come across that HUGE mechanical stuff twice now. They would be awesome looking with some light, as would most of the place. The basement you're wondering about was located in the eastern most of those long north-south buildings. If you remember the long one with the three smoke stacks, head to the north end of it then turn east. You'll see another long building to the east of the first one, enter it. The basement area was roughly located at the midpoint of this building. Just check around at staircases and you'll probably find it eventually. I don't know how much that helps, but hopefully you can find it; it is one of my favorite spots!

Our very first trip was done at dusk. It went okay at first, the light really helped us find our way in, etc. The problems arose when we encountered pretty heavy activity around the buildings. I'm sure you CAN navigate the area around that time of day, but you better be ready to get your ass in gear at any second. Since then we've made those late night trips which have made it much easier to look around in some degree of comfort. But even last night at about 1:00 we found ourselves having to cross an open area between buildings and sure enough, halfway across a truck showed up. Fortunately the guy was just doing rounds and had no clue we were there, we booked it inside and had no further problems. If you intend to be there around dusk, be very careful.

Now, on to the part about cameras/photography. I'm actually not shooting a really nice set up, just a small Canon Powershot A610. It does offer me manual controls over ISO, shutter speed, and aperture. But even with a small camera like this and a tripod you can get pretty sweet pictures. First thing to remember, don't use the flash if at all possible. The flash will bleach out and flatten anything that cool about what you were photographing. For this reason I tend to look for the areas of Geneva that have power. What kind of camera do you use?

Me and BlueValk are going into Geneva tomorrow (Apr 16th) morning around 0600 hrs. A good way to spend Easter Morning if you ask me! We're going to go further east into the buildings that still have power in them. thanks to Urban Pirates' recent recon. going to go check out the same area he was in. and hopefully get some good pictures with the help of electricity in buildings and daylight. we're really going to be putting our stealth techniques to the test as it'll be daylight. but hopefully with it being Easter Sunday their security team will be shorthanded. i have no doubt that we can pull it off though. we know how to remain undetected with the best of them!

My brother and I took an early morning trip to Geneva on easter, daylight trips are the way to go, if possible. We went in at about 6:30 am and spent almost 7 hours exploring new areas, leaving around 1:30 pm. There is SO much more to see during the day, although you do have to be quite a bit more alert to the possibility of being seen. This time we entered from the east and explored several buildings, offices, shops and control stations till we ended up at the building on the west, that we had previously checked out. On this trip, most of the area that we covered had working lights, left on. Also, there were many untouched offices with lights left on and locker rooms with faucets and showers just LEFT ON! We also ventured into office buildings that had lights on, and two or three inches of water on the floor, AND computers still turned on sitting on desks with screensavers scrolling across the screen. Its a wonder that we did not get electrocuted! We lightly brushed the ENTER key on the computers to see if they had been used recently, and to our surprise, there was a very large amount of dust on the keys. Slowly working through these areas was VERY SKETCHY, never knowing when, if, or where someone would come walking around a corner or out of a door. We had a lot of fun and seen some very cool things. Most of all the daylight enabled us to see the grandeur of the entire plant. Even on easter sunday we still did encounter a few people, there was one guy a small distance from us at one point using a plasma cutter and also had a suspected "perimeter patrol" pass the buildings we were in about every half an hour. Also I had to mention to my brother, who goes by minotaur, concerning his previous post, he should try to refrain from giving dates and times of expeditions, hopefully to curve any security actions or interference. You never know how many eyes may come across this forum. Now that I have mentioned that, We did catch a glimpse of one or two other people who looked like they were scurrying from one building to the next. Was anyone else take a trip to Geneva that morning? Also, with all of the computer equip. and other stuff I thought it may be local kids looking for stuff to gank. Most everything that I saw, which may have any value, I figured, was extremely out dated, worthless and not worth the hassle! its sad that others may not feel the same way and try to loot the place. Anyway, We had a very good time and seen a lot of neat things. I would like to plan a dusk trip soon. OH! and I did find Urban Pirates cool utility basements with the SUPER STICKY floors. Very cool area! thanks for the directions. I will try to attach few of the 100+ pics I took. Still working on my photography skills so please forgive. thanks for the advice Pirate. Anyone else been in lately?

Very nice bluevalk, very nice indeed. We were actually planning on going, and decided not to (actually it was my fault ). I really regret not doing so now, it sounds like it was amazing. I'm glad the directions worked out for you, that tunnel is awesome.

I would love to see more pictures and bigger please! They look awesome. If you need a place to host them, make an account at Photobucket (it is free) and upload your images there. It'll even give you the

Looks like that is just giving us this one pic. Sorry to use the forum as a computers for dummies classroom. Is there a link I can copy from photo bucket that will allow you to look at my whole album. or is that not really how it works, is it meant to be kept more private? Once again thanks for the help.

You have to paste in a tag for each photo you want to have show up. You can go to your gallery home page and copy and paste the link from your navigation bar and that should let us jump to Photobucket and view your gallery. I really recommend you post the photos you want people to look at on the forum, meaning paste in the tag for each separate image. People will be more likely to look at them that way and give you criticism/praise.

I like the single photo you have posted. I remember seeing those large gears, but I was relying on a flashlight so I didn't get a very good look.

Cool, I think I finally got it. Thanks again for the pointers. Here are a few of my other pics. Yeah, daylight really allows you to take in how massive everything is at Geneva. Gonna try to make an after work- midnight trip soon. probably within the next 6-7 days. My wife and my friends wife will be out of town the entire next week ,so he and I are defiantly gonna take another trip into geneva this next week. We are also way stoked to do some scouting and recon on Old Mill. We are determined to find a way to access the inside of the building. If anyone is down PM me for the specifics.
