What's wrong with ordering online? I bought mine from a police, fire and rescue supply e-tailer.

With shipping costs to Canada it made the light not worth it, and I'm not particular about size or weight so I got a different light. That and I don't have a credit card

The five hours of use are what intrigue me. God bless my little G2, but it's only good for an hour.

you can focus the mag to get into the tight spots. Lets see you do that with the led light.

The Maglite is actually already set pretty close to the tightest focus in the beam comparison picture.

Standard LED flashlights commonly use multiple small LEDs and collimation is hard, but this one uses a very bright single LED as a source and spot beam is pretty good.

Where'd you get it? I'll pop for that one.

High output LEDs are not that much more efficient than a regular bulb, so it wouldn't really last 25+ hours at full brightness.

This flashlight in particular uses a Luxeon Star that looks like this:

Of course it's not going to be at full brightness, but Luxeon's with 3 D cells last damn long.

Take a look at this runtime graph.

Oh, and for Logan, the light that I linked to is also focusable.

i got it off some web site about a year ago. its a 2 watt side emitting led which allows me to keep the focus function of the mag (it just swaps out the regular bulb) and have awesome battery life. i'll see if i can dig up the url.

They say it works in 3-6 cell Maglite, but its for a 3D use only. For 4, 5 and 6D body, you have to use three D cells + 3 dummy cells(plastic bottle shaped into a D cell and it is just internally shorted)

For the curious, just remember that the LED lamp upgrades I've seen for maglites usually cost as much as the flashlight itself. Sure, you save on buying spare lamps and extra batteries, but not everyone has the $40 or so for a mag and upgrade kit together. Some of us are on a budget. LOL!

I have a dinky little multi-LED flashlight that I got for free from something in the mail. It is blue light, and very dim. I haven't really seen a "bright" LED flashlight so far. From what I've noticed from shopping around, alot of places either have an LED that shines normally for a long time, or super-bright for a short time, just like regular flashlights. Of course, with most LEDs, their short time can be long time for a bulb flashlight.

Anyone know of an LED light close to the 100 lumen range that can keep that brightness for over an hour? My "emergency" light is a taclight that can blast about that bright but is usually dead in alittle over half an hour if I keep it on.

No. Just use dummy cells, they're easy to make.

Or of you want get one dummy cell and modify it with a regulator. Then, in a 6Dcell you can have the 5 batteries and a regulator. and 5Dcell 4 batts and the reg.

or im sure you could wire up a six cell as if it were 2 3D mags by wireing to sets of batterys up in parallel(this makes more sence in my head.)

Problem with that is the batteries are in there pretty good, little play beside the batteries
