*shudders* F'ing wasps thats all I care about. They may be useful for ecology and a balanced ecosystem but they are evil buggers that have unbarbed stingers so they can just sting, and sting, and sting....

I don't heart wasps of any kind.

Hornets; pinch with their legs, bite with their mandibles, as they jab their stinger in. You can't brush them off easily, and they'll keep stinging. They're tough as steel.

Wasp are smarter though, although some are quit docile and will not attack even when inches from their nests. I never kill the mellow ones; allowing them to live means future generations will be more docile. Bumblebees, and carpenter bees are harmless, and fun to watch.

Just when I thought I was out... they pulled me back in.

Ugh... my worst nightmare. I'm really allergic to anything with a stinger, so I always have to bring my epi-pen with me. I've been lucky so far (knock on wood), and I haven't been stung in a while, but I'm sure that day is just around the corner. During the summer, thats my main fear. I'd rather get caught than get stung.

Well if your a piece of wood maybe you have the Carpenter bee to fear. Both are nearly impossible to provoke, if so they may bite you. They can sting but rarely do. There can be variations in aggressiveness due to the subspecies, that bee's temperament, and other factors; gauge your actions accordingly. The Carpenter bees are more aggressive, and can bite quit hard.

I've had a Bumblebee nest next to my back door on, and off for many years. They are extremely tolerant creatures. When mowing the lawn even going over the nest entrance never provoked them. They are curious, sometimes especially near the end of the day. You may see them hovering for sometimes minutes at time, watching a person doing a chore, or sitting in a chair. One watch after I pull the car to door to load some crates. She stayed about 2-3 feet above me, never closer. When pulled away so did she.

Many times I have tried to see how close I can get to touching both the Bumble, and Carpenter bees with my finger. Never have I been attacked doing this; try that with a Yellow Jacket. YJ's just as soon sting you as look at you. Carpenter bees can form huge colonies sometimes hundreds strong in old wooden structures. Exercise caution; these are their homes, and young. Even so I have walk to a foot or two of these to watch them at length with little notice from the Carpenter bees. Both are beneficial insect that help pollinate plants.

I officially endorse the hating of Yellow Jackets. They are assholes in the purest sense of the word, especially towards the end of the summer. Around that time, they just seem to sense their impending doom to the cold weather, and want to go out stinging. I've been stung just standing in one spot, doing nothing. Them, and European hornets. Bald-Faced aren't too bad, neither are most wasps (like Mud Daubbers and such). Honey/Bumble bees are fine, I've actually opened Honeybee hives (manmade) without being stung, and looked inside. They really don't bother too much.

Its those damn yellow jackets. I seriously want to kill all of them.

They give bees a bad name. I've been stung by YJs more times than I can count. Including just walking on the street not near anything. They're dumber than most other bees though. The bad part about them is they can nest in the ground, and lawn mowers really get them going. They DO get real evil in the fall, death wish I guess. If one lands on you, just smash it 'cause it's gonna sting you anyway! It's fun to slap fight them too. (Not if your allergic to them, damn.)

Yellow Jackets; KILL THEM ALL.

Just when I thought I was out... they pulled me back in.

Blarg, I've had a little fun with yellow jackets too. My young cousin wandered into a enst of them and just stood there screaming. Of course I had to rescue him, so I got stung all to hell and back.

We need some anti-yellow jacket guns or something

Perhaps a shotgun that fires sand...

Interesting home remedy, supposedly if you carry a sheet of Bounce fabric softener in your pocket it'll ward off yellow jackets. I came across it on the web so I don't know how reliable it is, but I guess it's a tool of the trade for postal workers and golfers.
