come with me to Britannia mine...

Hey its J again (DK79)...If anyone want to partner up with me on a trip through the abandoned Britannia mine concentrator building and surrounding area...I dont want to go alone, as the mountainside is slippery, and the buildings catwalks are treacherous at times. I have no buddies that share my "sick" obsession with UE, so if your interested, post me. I used to live in the town and know the area and building well. If you have photo equip, it would be an asset, as im just getting gear together. Get back...

If it's the same mine we're talking about, it's not abandoned, it's a museum ... but since you live there you should know that. It appears right now the mining towers are themselves closed for renovations, but I would advise contacting them to see if they're willing to give a tour before you attempt going on your own.

Hey yeah i know about the museum, but the concentrator building is unoccupied as it is rated condemned. Security doesnt enter it, except for at the bottom door entrance where you view it on the tour (I've been in there in broad daylight and not been noticed). I know two upper entrances and one lower side entrance, so i can get around and see most of the building, while avoiding certain perilous catwalks and stairs (more like ladders some of them, very steep). One great spot is the top level next to the rail trestle entrance, it's a beautiful area. I noticed they were renovating, but im sure its just exterior, superficial repairs, to please the 2010 bigwigs. Hopefully the inside will remain original and accessible...I would ask the museum, but as i have worked for them before, i know the do not allow anyone in with their knowledge, as parts of the building are extremely unsafe.

There is one portal entrance a half click past the top level of the mine. It has a gate but can be accessed. It only goes in a couple hundred yards though, as it was blasted to prevent entry. Up the mountain side near the old townsite, there are other portals, but they are very treacherous. I noticed wraiths entered the "Tour" tunnel...LOL...just a small access tunnel from the original mine works, but there is much more to be seen here...

we also went through most of the old mill building, and up the mountainside, and into the museum itself after hours...

The tour section of the mine was fun to find a way into too...

Bah! You should go by yourself DK79...I did the North Monarch Mine by myself and I was fine despite the fact that I had to trundle through waist deep snow and froze my feet.

Yeah Jester i know those wooden doors to the tour tunnel, security is so friggin low at that place, i wouldnt have been surprised if the doors to the museum building were unlocked...screw it though...i was curious if any one who hadnt seen it wanted to come with someone who has extensive knowledge of the building and area...did you go up the mountain to the old town site and check out the open portals up there? speaking of stuff in that area any thoughts about the woodfibre mill? youd need a boat, but its closed and its HUGE...nuts to the mine ive seen it all anyway, just hadnt been for a while

Didn't get in through the wooden doors. Not the ones at either end, or on the side...

I wasn't slaggin your knowledge, your post was a little demeaning though, which is why I replied.

That whole area is interesting. The mill is a great project if someone has access to a boat. Woodmills are fun for the amount of machinery and the overall size of the places. I've been to other ones, but not that one in particular...

Hey Jester, yeah sorry if my post came across that way. I dont wanna get off on the wrong foot with my local UE brothers and sisters. The mines a fun explore for sure. I'd love to setup a mission, check my post on your wraiths site in lower mainland about it...your sites great, and youve hit some great stuff. seeing your targets got me really motivated to do some research, and plan some missions.

Oh yeah if ive asked anything that was a faux pas (like mentioning entrance info about the tour tunnel) i apologize, im new to the community, but am stoked to get out there...but you got your own method there anyway

No snow like that here George, but the structure is so unstable id prefer to have at least a partner about 7 storeys of catwalks and ladder stairs...
