Edmonton's LRT

I know that LRT tunnels essentially are a terrible idea because they are dangerous and monitored. however, unlike most cities, Edmonton's LRT stops running at one in the morning or so. and after maintainence workers are gone and the trains are taken to the north end to sleep, surely there's an opportunity here? I know that the entry points have cameras and motion detectors, but there's certainly another option (going in a maintainence door during the day and hiding, or something comparable). what's the general consensus? what was learn by the intrepid explorers in the freshly dug tunnels? who knows what time in the morning the trains start running again? who knows how late the security staff is there? Importantly, who knows the secret of invisibility so that cameras can be bypassed?

I'm sure sometimes they might move a train at night. I'd hate to be in one of those tunnels when that happens! Plus with all video camera's, I doubt you'd get too far. Besides, can't you just ride the train and see the tunnels legally?

well, I assume they'd be moving trains at night, but I doubt it'd be all night. plus, there's some neat looking service corridors, especially up above the stations (check out grandin station). I take the train every day, and I'm just curious to see what else might be seen.

I'm guessing there isn't much space to avoid the train? Sounds like a whole lot of bad idea to me.

They train new drivers after hours as well. Hope for a transit strike. When there was one in C-town is when I explored the rail tunnels here.

Edmonton has those tight tubes, so it's just super dangerous. No way at all to get out of the path of a train - even in the roomier square tunnels in Calgary, where you'd have a foot and a half, the draft from a passing train would pull you away from the wall and smear you like jam all over everything.

Cloak and dagger, man, cloak and dagger.

Some people have been in the LRT tunnels- during the day, and at night. But hopefully you'll just come the next meeting, and they can tell you about it in person instead of posting in a publicly-viewable thread. Wouldn't want anyone to get caught, or worse, smeared.

Talk to your friend swimr, or email me.
