Houston Explorers. Where Are You?

How is it, that the 4th largest city in the USA can have so little on this site? I get to Houston a couple of times a year and see all sorts of promising spots. Come on Houston, stop hogging all the cool abandonments down there to yourself. Share them with us.....

Yeah, Houston is dope. There's tons of shit to explore. Only active person I know of is Porfzilla, but I don't think he comes around here much.

I'm glad someone started this thread. I've always been into UE and just started looking into areas around here. Message me and we can go out sometime.

Cool, another h-town peep. I'm in town a couple times a year to visit the 'rents. But now that I'm in Dallas, I may head down there more often. My all time Houston wet dream UE is 1111 Rusk Ave, the old Texaco building. I've tried bribing the guy that lives on site. He's a cool dude, but he takes his job damn serious. There's seriously sooo much to do in Houston. I dunno what part of town you're in, but all along the Katy Freeway expansion is ripe with opportunities, but you gotta act fast. They tore down the Holiday Inn over near Antoine/Silber real quick.

I'm usually in the Astrodome/Medical Center area when I visit. But do a lot of roaming around when I'm down there. I've seen a lot of cool stuff around Hobby Airport and along I-45 going toward Galveston.

Yeah, I live in the Medical Center, so downtown is just a couple stops down the light rail. I'm originally from the Woodlands. I'd like to hit up some old towns, possibly ghost towns, around Houston as well. It's funny you mentioned 1111 Rusk, we surveyed that the other day.

There is also a building being built right now in the Med Center that I'd really like to explore. If any of guys are down here soon enough, I'd like to hit that up.

What's going on with the Enron building? Did it get new tenants, or is it empty? The medical center area used to have a bunch of old hospitals and hotels. They have torn so much of it down in recent years for hospitals, hotels, condos and parking lots. There was an old hospital on either OST or Almeda that I really wanted to check out, but they tore it down, too.

Wait a sec...do you have any more pics closer of of Ben Milam, particularly the side in the picture? What's going on there? I know they took part of that wall out but it looks like they've replaced it with decorative brick, arched-like. Weird.

Edit: OMG holy shit! thats not decorative brick, that's the Juice box! Did they tear down that section of Ben Milam?

Edit 2: OMG holy shit! They are fixin' up Cenikor Building too? I need information, more information.

Damn, whenever I ask my parents what's new, they never mention the important stuff.

Damn, I hope nothing serious happens to BM before I get to see it. After 2 unsuccessful attempts, it's not like I haven't tried.

Yeah, like I said via AIM, I think they are (de)constructing BM. There was an article about taking down another building in Houston last weekend about a block from Minute Maid. It seems like a lot of places down here are taken down overnight.

I'm in Clear Lake now, but I'm a bit wary of going anywhere. People in this state can't drive.

Washington state has about 6 million people within 71,000 square miles. Houston has about 6 million people within 600 square miles. Of course the traffic is gonna be a little scary. Imagine living in New York.....

What are you doing in Clear Lake?

God, that part of Houston is booooring!

Oh, and having been damn near all over the country, Houston has some of the best drivers I've ever seen. Aggressive as all hell? Yes. Bad? No. And nice too, we wave people on in Texas, and they wave back! I always get sooo pissed when people don't wave back in thanks when I'm in some rude ass yankee state.

I was involuntarily relocated. And when the cops are caught eating a can of tuna with a fork while driving down the freeway and turn signals are as rare as snow showers, I'd say it's safe to say that drivers here suck.
