when you go up the barkerville highway towards wells ,, and barkerville,,
about half way up the road ,beside lighning creek if you keep looking to the right you will see a old bridge crossing lightning creek ,,it has the deck removed but you can still walk across the big steel beems ,,if you keep walking up the road you will come to a abandoned mine ,,most of the buildings have started to fall in ,,but there is a old mine shaft blocked by a big pile of fill,,and a big hopper shoot there so they could wash the gravel down to get the gold from it ,,now while i was there i wanted to fill some buckets with some of the gravel that had just slightly washed out of this giant hopper ,,im sure there would have been gold in it,,but there was no buckets around ,,
anywase it was neet to check out the old camp and shops there ,,but it's starting to get pretty overgrown and run down,,

i don't live up there anymore ,,i was in quesnel for about two years ,,
and prince for about 6 months or so ,, nice area ,, lots of neat history ,,
wild country,,

Ah, PG. I grew up there, just moved to Victoria last year. Gross city for all the smog and crappy air, but gorgeous hiking to be done.

Was wondering if the old prison in PG is still standing. It used to be a max security, I seen it from a distance when I was hitching through, when I was not into ue.
