The Jollytaxpayer Pub and Inn, Pouring beers for over a 100 years.

The JTP closed its doors on Dec 29th after pouring beers for over 100 years. I had heard about this closing but it hadn't set in, until one day while strolling down west hastings between hornby and howe I noticed its boarded up front. The JTP was certainly a Vancouver landmark, many a stock broker was heard to lament of its closing, as that had been the place to go after a day of trading. renowned for its comfortable atmosphere, and warm welcome from the regulars, it is no more. It will soon be demo'd for yet another condo tower. From the first moment I saw the boards I decided I would do an afterhours tour of my own to pay hommage. I did a rudimentary search to find an entrance, it was sealed tight, except to my surprise I found a clean entry. Totally unprepared for such luck I wasn't sure how to play it. Should I do a tactical retreat and come back later, or just go in. I decided to go in and at least scout it. So I dropped in and immediately felt nervous, the lights were still on and for all I new, people were still staying there. It sure had that feel, so I began quietly looking around. I didn't open many doors, the main point was to get the geography of the place down and audit the security. I made my way through the inn levels and down towards the pub, as I was coming down the stairs towards the pub I noticed a room labeled box office. I skulked in and immediately froze, in front of me was a lite alarm panel reading armed, I looked a little closer and it said by-pass. I let out a deep breath as I had stopped breathing the moment I noticed it. By-pass is good this means some of the zones are disabled. Still I decided to beat it out the way I came in, I was worried I would trip the alarm and get the place locked down before I could get some pics, as I didn't have my camera. The next day was long and filled with anticipation. I planned to go back around 02:00 the next night. The JTP is in the middle of Vancouvers financial district, so this means random security patrols, static guards in the surrounding office towers, and the odd police patrol. 02:00 finally rolled around and I decided to make my entry. I was more nervous this time around as I felt the stakes had been raised being that an alarm was present. Best possible situation was that only the front entry was armed. I entered once again and began my exploration. The rooms were decent in the inn and had a very cozy feel to them, most still had beds and bedding in them. I finished up the inn and headed to the pub, I was very careful walking around the whole time, it was like the UE equivaliant of a mine field. I had stopped again in the "box office" and the red leds were still lite on the alarm panel. I made sure to look up before crossing any vestibule to check for motion detectors. The pub was neat, I checked out some of the cut in half books in the book cases, and nostalgically glanced at a table I had once sat at and had a pint. Now for the main event I really wanted to get to the basement the building was a 100+ years old, there was sure to be some neat stuff. I didn't know where to begin so I just headed down, I came to the front office of the Inn. I checked it out and then opened a door leading into the office area. There in the back corner of the office a small door, I opened it it and eureka, stairs leading down, I began heading down into the large basement area. I only had to crane my neck slightly, the whole place was filled with plenty of obtanium. There was little doors everywhere, mostly just leading to little niches and cubby's. I came to the keg loading area, it was really cool, a set up of rails to roll the kegs in on, and a fair amount of kegs at that.. I started heading forward towards the front hoping for a tunnel under the above street. Suddenly a phone rings, I immediately froze. This is not good who would be calling? Shit alarm response who else! I had become sloppy and caught up in the moment. I looked forward and there before me a blinking red motion detector. Shit, the clock was now ticking I had to get out fast. Luckily I found an exit beside the keg rail, normally I prefer to leave the way I came in, but under the circumstances, escape and evasion were priority. I made use of the exit slamming the door hard behind me. I got out of the alley and across the street to the park. I laid on the park bench and waited to see the response unit. I lay there for about ten minutes and up pulls VPD with the lights going, it was the big boys no bacon bits. I pulled myself up from the bench and stretched, I walked by and snapped a shot with no flash and left into the night. T.L.

nice work!! Looks more like an infiltration!

I used to be with it, but then they changed what it was. Now what I'm with isn't it, and what's it seems weird and scary to me, and it'll happen to you, too!

Right on, maybe next time try to break up your write up into paragraphs so it's easier to read?
Aside from that, sounds good.
