And ideas what this thing is? Seicer and I encountered it Saturday night at a church. It was attached to the metal handrails.

The text on the back relates to FCC regs, but give no hint to its function. I'm at a loss.

The FCC regs must be because of the electronic keys these things have been using for the past 8 years or so. The real estate agent typically places the e-key in a dock at home which dials in everyday and gets updated codes.

In the old days, everyone had a key (looked like a vending machine key). Now it is possible to determine who accessed the box and when.

Honestly, I would have never guessed it related to real estate. Especially considering the site.

It is a thermonuclear fusion bomb. Grats, you've destroyed the world. Also, 2 oxen have died and you have contracted syphillis.

Props to anyone who gets that reference.

And back on topic, it is just a key box for realtors.

Oregon Trail?

Yog-Sothoth knows the gate. Yog-Sothoth is the gate. Yog-Sothoth is the key and guardian of the gate. Past, present, future, all are one in Yog-Sothoth. He knows where the Old Ones broke through of old, and where They shall break through again. He knows where They have trod earth’s fields, and where They still tread them, and why no one can behold Them as They tread.

Haha yeah... Allright, hold back the flame throwers. I had to mention oregon trail...

Ahem. Yeah, you shouldn't worry about that thing AS LONG AS you dont push any buttons (if it is the keypad type) because they have logging devices as I recall.

Yeah I would have never guessed that, especially since the place was condemned by the City of Cincinnati of all things.

To be honest, Oregon Trail is pretty well known, my mastery of the game (and sequel) and similar mastery by pretty much everyone I've ever known doesn't really make the reference that impressive.

We didn't get Oregon Trail up north, at least not in my school. We had Cross-country Canada, which was all about haulin grains and stuff across Canada. The best part was when you randomly hit things in your truck and the windshield cracks. Awesome graphics!

If the place is truly abandoned it seems bizzare that that would still be there. I imagine that's an expensive piece of kit.

every elementary school in the world had a lab like that, a couple of apple ][+'s with the white power light. the //e's with the little green light and the switch under the keyboard to make the language change. we had these green monochrome apple monitors you could adjust the angle of and a couple of amdek monitors that were color, we used to fight over those!
