I don't care if you become a full member, I don't care if you want ot be a full member or not really. But you said you wanted to be able to post and edit in the LDB, and to do that you need to be a full member. It's simple. Want to contribute, then do so as you're able. By doing so you would more than likely show yourself to be fine to be granted full membership, and then be able to contribute, edit, blah blah blah all you want.

Everything you seek is possible, with simple steps that actually serve your supposed purpose...

and by the way.....

we have contributed other than this post, including posting info and pics on a site...I say "we" because Daghita and I UE as a team so it can therefore be considered that whatever location I'm posting is his contribution as well and vice versa.

soooooo, we OBVIOUSLY have no problem knowing how to do these wonderful things you speak of Jester because we have already done them.

Becoming third level is not the issue.....

sharing info on locations in Colorado is because there aren't many and they don't last long.......

the DB is the best way to do that............

end of story.

This has become some testosterone laden pissing contest and it's really a waste of time.

But go ahead...post some more images.....some more clever remarks...have fun...knock yourself out.

To think that posting images in a thread in the forum instead of the LDB will just make things get lost in the shuffle is simply an excuse. You don't know that is going to happen. If anything, there's more chance that they will be seen. When you add a new post, there is a visual representation in the forum (that everyone comes to) that there is a new post. They will then go to check it out.

If you post something new to the LDB, the only way people will know there is a new location is if they deliberately go to the area in the DB to check it out, or if you tell them by posting in the forum. There is no way in the main forum page to tell people if a new location has been added to the LDB.

Just a thought.

Of course, you can always apply for L3 and then this isn't a problem at all, is it?

I've posted the images to mock this entire thread, because that's all it deserves.

I've explained the absolutely simple solution to your problem.

You don't want to fulfill the requirements that get you access to the LDB, that's your decision. You have the ability to do it, your lack of access is entirely your own decision. If you choose not to, that's all your decision, and no moderator is going to feel bad for you because you won't take the couple of minutes to post some pics in other sections and apply for the full membership to gain the benefits you wished for.

But, I appreciate you for all your time complaining, which if put to the use of doing as we suggested, would probably have you well on your ways to full membership.

I think that is what is fun about the process. I applied for full membership, and the anticipation is exciting. Kind of like waiting for final grades to be posted or seeing if you made the team. If not, try again next time...

I've seen the pics you posted in the forum, they're really good. Good luck...

Seeks and Dag - R-E-L-A-X

You guys have contributed to the local community, there's no question about that. It's been a matter of timing, making the right connections and such. Our primary reason to keep you from posting in the LDB is because there are a lot of sites there that are not visible to anyone but full members.

If you had posting access and tried to put up a bunch of new locations chances are you'd end duplicating something the existing community has already decided to not share with the public. That causes problems - 1 cleaning up the duplicate location post and 2, why did the other contributors to the location not want to share it with the public and is it up to you to change that?

We decided a long time ago on UER that only full members would decide what information was shared and what was not. It's a technicality at this point. Please, also take into consideration that you've been contributing for, what? Weeks, maybe months? Take it easy, you guys are aces in my book and I'm happy to see you trying. I know it can be frustrating, but you're making a big deal out of it. If you can continue to contribute and participate at this level you'll have full access very soon and then you'll wonder what all the fuss was about because it's really not as big a deal as everyone's making it.

MODS - R-E-L-A-X

Never have I seen so many mods jump on the bandwagon and just trash talk a couple of frustrated users. I know it can be trying for you guys, I know there are a lot of stupid posts with users whining about their access, and I can understand being persnippity to these requests. But you guys went a little overboard with the obnoxious level of your response.

In this particular instance these two users have contributed a lot to the local community and have been making the right moves to get their access. They are frustrated because they really want to get in and contribute to the community here. I can understand their growing frustration in response to your grammar school attempts at amusing one another. I know you can't check the background of every newb who posts a "Whaa! I want L3" post there is, but I didn't see any particular reason to heap it on these two as strongly as you did.

It did have its amusing points, I laughed a few times myself. But really, these two don't deserve it. They are actually finding full member access a barrier to their ability to participate in the community, which is one of the reasons a lot of people opposed it. Sometimes it keeps good explorers out along with the riff raff.

I'll make a promise now to try and attend or setup another Colorado Meet and Greet before the end of January. Perhaps a Copex96 planning meeting. (That these two have also volunteered to participate in) so I can complete the requirement I maintain (for/by myself) of meeting someone in person before recommending their L3 access. There is a growing number of L3 users in the local area. We'll get you guys hooked up soon.

There is a barrier with a freaking detour sign that explains how to get where you want to go. With less effort than it took them to complain repeatedly and explain to me that it's not their loss, they could have been well on their way to being able to do exactly what they wanted to.

I fully support helping people that help themselves... I fully despise helping people that bitch about something they can easily change themselves.

I find, also, that posting photographs in the many forum categories is much more beneficial than posting an entirely new LDB location. Why? More coverage from a broader audience. I do not go around in the LDB looking at photos from California, or Texas, because they are outside of my viewing scope and I do not have the time to page through every entry and gallery.

I find that looking at selected photographs, that the photographer thought was the best or most interesting out of his collection, is far more interesting. Plus, it is much more customizable, since you are able to present it in a manner you see fit.

That's my personal reason for not posting in the LDB, along with that it merely duplicates my entries on my web-site.

While we would like to see you contribute (original poster), it is best if you do so through the forum until you reach L3. It's that easy.

I was not jumping on a bandwagon and being obnoxious, Chainsaw. I was just giving my thoughts on the issue. My line of thought is the same as seicer's here.

I have mixed feelings on the L3 thing. I have been registered here for a while, and I was a lurker for some time before that. I just hardly ever post because I don’t have much to share on some web form, but I don’t feel that that should be the way to judge character or trustworthiness.

I never have asked for full status, simply because I am basically unknown to most people here. I have never taken a picture at a location that is worth looking at, let alone putting it up here to be compared to some of the amazing shots on this site. I simply have nothing to contribute to this internet community. If that means that I will never have full membership unless I come to a meet of Colorado folks than that is quite alright. I just feel that rules make it sound like it is for people who are real good at talking about UE online, regardless of any other factors. Access to the LDB would be great, but unless I can force a bunch of awkward posts that win the hearts of the UER community I am sunk.

Good lord....or something

Seek and Daghita I have really enjoyed your posts and places you visit. So keep at it. I see Daghita got L3 so just one left...

Its always interesting to see how...what would be the word.. childish.. i think..some people are about things. Someone brings up posting in the LDB, and now we get to see tons of pictures in each post. How nice.

This kind of stuff is kind of sad to see. But ya, so is most of the world.
